I purchased this item as a family Christmas gift and the first thing we made was dark chocolate ice cream. Talk about fresh and knowing exactly what you are eating. It was far easier to assemble and use that I thought it would be. Clean up is simple. The recipes are great and use ingredients that are common. We store the main mixer in the freezer all the time so it's ready to use at a moment's notice.

It is difficult to clean. The ice cream is too soft, unless you leave the bowl in the freezer for 24 hours before you use it. It's not horrible, but I am not impressed, particularly in view of the price.

1.5-q Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker by Cuisinart

It worked satisfactorily twice. The ice cream was good quality homemade frozen yogurt - no ice crystals, but it wasn't Haagan Das either - I suspect because I didn't use corn syrup or a lot of cream in it, not because of the machine. Yesterday I tried to make some more frozen yogurt and the frozen bowl wobbled and the mixing paddle banged. I turned it off, inspected the whole thing, and the only thing I could surmise was perhaps the liquid in the mixing bowl was not frozen level inadvertantly. So, tonight or tomorrow I try again...I'll be happy to keep you posted...

My first try was a total disaster. My second was even worse. I left the handle open and the liquid was pouring all over the floor. Both attemted failures were due to operator error. I was totally flustered. I think I gave my husband a few laughs.
However; my third attemp was a total success. Ice cream was great, and it freezes wonderfully.

This product works great when making Full fat soft serve ice cream. It's a bit harder to make lowfat ice cream. It seems to not freeze the lowfat ice cream smooth enough to come out of the soft serve spout. It works great for full fat ice cream or custard.

When I made the ice cream the dispenser did not work. That was what intrigued my 9 year old, but we had to scoop the ice cream out, which takes away from the fun. The recipes are great.

Did not read throughly. thought it had a compressor in the machine. Have made a variety of flavors but still trying to get it hard enough to have an ice cream cone. I keep the bowl in the freezer and the mixing bowl in the freezer this has helped to firm up the ice cream.

This is a wonderful ice cream maker. Easy set-up and easy make. The kids love watching it. It took a little longer than said but was great. Bought more things to make another flavor this weekend. The add on on the side works great too. That was fun.

If you are looking for a soft serve ice cream (not dairy queen type) this is ok. It takes longer for the ice cream to freeze than stated, but once it starts to freeze it does so quickly. The recipes are extremely sugary/sweet. It is easy to clean, and fits on a counter.

I used this for a barbecue ove r the 4th of July and it was a big hit. The best recipe was the coffee ice cream. Chocolate on was not that good. I will try some of the other recipes I have for ice cream, gelato and sorbet to see if they will do just as well.

Only problem is getting the dispensing time right. Makes great soft serve in no time. Need a good recipe for making Soft Serve ice cream. Ended up ordering a dry soft serve mix from a company on line.

Fun Product

What a fun product! Our first batch was a strawberry yogurt made with frozen strawberries from our garden. Yum! Just wish it made a bigger batch, although for 2 or 3 people it's just fine. I think that we're going to get a second bowl so that we can make more for family events. The machine is well made and typical of Cuisinart products. Easy to use and sturdy enough to last for many years. I bought this in order to make healthy desserts for my diabetic mom. She's going to have something "sweet", whether it's healthy or not. This way, I can control the ingredients and make sure that she's getting "low sugar-lowfat" frozen dessert.
