Well designed and equally well manufactured

Breville as usual, has designed and produced a superior product. Some reviewers have said it's too heavy or gets too hot. It's a stainless steel hot pot - not a cheap plastic knockoff so yes, it will be heavier than the cheap ones and just like a stainless steel pot on the stove, it will get hot. I can't lift much and it's just fine for me to use. Breville is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for." I love the light "chime" when the water is heated to boiling and the fact that it shuts off automatically when ready. It heats water very quickly and I am very pleased to have purchased this item. I also have the Breville IKON juicer. Fabulous product as well!!! My next coffee pot will be from Breville.

    Wonderful Electric Kettle!!

    by Catherine, NC
    December 30, 2010

I received the Breville Electric Kettle just in time for our Christmas visitors. It is a wonderful, simple to operate appliance . . . my mother-in-law and father-in-law used it all day, every day they were visiting. My mother-in-law is a small person, so I was afraid that the kettle might be too heavy for her to lift when it was full, but she had no problem at all. We all loved the kettle!!

A hot pot with little wait and no worries

    by James, ND
    August 16, 2010

For the last 20 years I've been using your typical, inexpensive, exposed element hot pots to boil water for my French Press (coffee). Recently my latest hot pot which served me for a number of years failed and nearly started a fire. I decided that I would seek out and find a hot pot with some intelligence and durability and a non-exposed element, and that I have found in the Breville product, so far. It boils fast, works as expected, and the filter screen is a nice touch. After 2 full weeks of use I can easily say this is the best hot pot I have ever used.

    Thank you

    James

    Counter Top Worthy

    by Mary, TX
    January 12, 2010

I live in a new high rise complex and the microwaves are too small to put a 2 quart pitcher in to boil water for iced tea! This was the perfect solution. I make four quarts of tea a day so the appliance has to stay out on my counter top. The sleek lines are easy on the eye and take up a minimal amount of space.

Very happy with this product. I was looking to replace another electric kettle that died, this one is easy to clean and has plenty of capacity. Highly recommended.

I love the kettle. It's sleek, has a filter, stainless covering over the element. I like the lid. You can refill without getting burned. The handle is thick and comfortable to hold. I read reviews that complained it was heavy. Just so you know, it weighs about 8 lbs when filled to the top but it's balanced and pours easily.

    Disappointed

    by Nancy, FL

Yes it is a beautiful pot, but,
    1. It's too heavy
    2. It takes longer than most others to boil and shut off

The length of time it takes is rediculous...that's why I got rid of my other one because it was old and took too long any more. Now I'm stuck with this one, I should have sent it back but getting to the post office or other place is too difficult for me. It is safer than my old one.

Have not had it long enough to judge how good it is (reliability)
looks, capacity, and time to boil are very good.

By far the best I have used

    by Lori, MA
    January 28, 2008

This is an excellent product. Heats fast, great indicator light. The lid on top/handle on side arrangement allows for easy refill without burning your hand. Others with the handle on top-- you burn yourself either refilling or pouring.
All stainless inside-- covered heating element. This is my 5'th kettle and if this ever goes, I will replace it with this. I finally found the best!

Breville electric kettle - worth it

    by Anne, IN
    September 25, 2007

Great design. Easy open lid with well designed mechanism. Good spout location. Some reviewers mentioned a taste and smell when first using the kettle. True. But after one weekend of use - we drink a bit of tea, it was gone. Just boil about ten times, discarding the water. Don't worry about using vinegar or baking soda or anything else - it does go away. It also does take longer to boil than you expect - but reaches a higher temperature than the others. As well, no stainless steel kettle that I have come across has insulation. This one does not either. The deal was cllinched for me after looking at so many of these and when I walked into a top cooking store, this is the one they were using to make their own hot drinks! I have had a Braun, a Cuisinart and another...I hope that this one outlasts them all.

By the time I get my tea ready, the water is already boiling! Love the look of the blue indicator light, the soft coated handle, and it holds the perfect amount of water.
    Wonderful teapot, very pleased.

    Great kettle

Our last kettle was alittle too small for the coffee and tea drinkers in the family. This one is big enough and heats the water pretty fast. Recommended!

    Breville Electric Kettle

    by Bob, IL
    February 4, 2007

I previously used a tea kettle in which I heated water on a gas stove top. I am still amazed at how quickly this electric kettle heats water. I find that there is no tin or other unwanted flavor added to the water by using this kettle ( I add fresh water each time I use the kettle.) I find myself drinking more tea now than I did previously - thats a good thing. I highly recommend this great performing kettle.

After living in the UK for 14 years, I can not understand why all Americans don't have kettles. This one works quickly, easy to fill, comfortable handle & looks good.
