I'm always grating cheese for pasta, nachos, eggs, or other meals. I've had several graters in my day, and so far I like this one the best. The container catches most of the gratings and works well for temp. storage.

This grater is a little hard to use. It is not as sharp as microplane but so far I have not grated my nuckles off either. Wish they would design one more at a natural angle in stead of up and down. Some day I'll have the best one ever but for now I'll have to keep looking. Love how it is dishwasher safe.

This has a self-stowing container that catches what you grate while it is attached to the bottom of the grater and has its own lid, making this a particularly useful device.

Box Grater with storage container

by Karen, OR
December 31, 2008

This is a great 4 sided grater. The handle works really good for gripping. The container makes it easy to hold what you are grating without having to use another bowl or plate under the grater. Great value. Would buy again.

Cheese Grater with container

by Kitty, TX
February 19, 2008

This product is as stated and is a good value. I would recommend it to others and did buy one as a gift.

I would like someone to make a grater with a larger shallower container with two lids. One would be a flat grater and the other a lid for closing the container.

The only down fall to the product is that the "bowl" does not have measurements.

Best Cheese Grader Ever

by Keith, CA
April 15, 2009

First I bought another cheese grader because I could turn a handle and the cheese would be ground into small bits. Unfortunately, you had to open the machine, take out the cylinder and then, take the cheese from it. I decided cheese grading needed to done the old fashioned way:by hand.

Norpro's Cheese Grater is a jewel for grinding cheese. The rubber handle on the top allows you to hold the grater firmly, while grinding the cheese. An even bigger plus is the small container that fits into the grader, catching the cheese as it falls. If you cut a sufficient amount of cheese, you can put the convenient lid on the container and store the cheese for later. If not, you put the lid back on the container and insert it into the cheese grader's bottom.

This is a very well thought out and excellently manufactured must have for the kitchen. It has proven to be worth every penny they ask for it.

My husband and I both like how the lidded container fits neatly into the grater.
The grater itself seems well made and works just fine. The only thing I don't like about it is that some of the cheese drops to the outside since it is a vertical grater. My last grater sat flat on top of the container, but I could not find one of that design any longer.

Although I have only needed to use it once, I was happy with the product. All things grated go into the storage saver attached.

This grater is the best on the market. No more finding cheese all over the counter but now in its own catcher. Great and easy to use.

The Grater by Norpro does a wonderful job of grating cheese. I like the container that comes with it to be able to grate more and save for later, this is a good feature. I feel it was a good value and arrived in just a few days.

Nice Grater

by William, OH
April 11, 2011

This style grater has grown a reputation for being a "knuckle buster." Usually due to operator error.
I really like it for grating or shredding cheeses, carrots, veggies and such. It's a fine tool. Just pay attention while you're using it.
