I really like this coffee maker, the carafee is nice and big. Holds lots of coffee and keeps coffee hot a long time. Makes great tasting coffee and it is nice and hot. I had another carafe style maker but coffee was not hot enough when done. This one has great temperature.

My one complaint is the top is really hard to open when you want to pour your coffree. It has to be unscrewed everytime you pour and it gets really tight when the hot coffee is in it. It gets frustrating in the morning when you are still trying to wake up and can't get to your coffee. Bad design on lid of carafe, should be improved.

It Leaks!

During the cleaning/test run with water (fortunately just water), it leaked all over and had to be returned.

Pretty good thermal coffee maker

by Brenda, WA
January 6, 2007

I got this after my Starbucks Barrista maker died. I like the controls on the side, preventing accidental water spills into the panel, which I think killed my last machine. The Zoji is pretty good, very hot coffee, especially if you use warm tap water to begin with. The thermal carafe keeps coffee warm for a couple hours, like most other models. Easy loading of ground coffee and water. No problem using paper #4 filters. It is a bit hard to unscrew the lid, could be designed better, ergonomically. Overall, I am happy with the product.

Lived Up To Expectations

by Donna, GA

I bought the Zojirushi as a birthday present for a friend, to replace his Mr. Coffee thermal carafe coffee maker.

The Zojirushi is very sleek and elongated, which makes it quite attractive - even better looking than the picture. The controls are simple and easy to use. The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for a very long time. It's a huge improvement on my friend's old thermal carafe and he loves it.

I have recommended it to other people, and if I ever need a coffee maker I would definitely choose this one.

Excellent coffee maker. Very difficult to unscrew and screw top of carafe. Cord a little bit too short. Otherwise no complaints.

Better than most...

by DAN, IN

I just had to have a thermal coffee maker. Previous machines broke and of course, spewed coffee all over the counter, floor and cabinet drawers.
The 10-c. Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker by Zojirushi for the most part solved that problem.
The nomenclature is a might clunky. It could be a tad larger. The filter/grounds receptacle isn't deep enough for #4 standard filters. You have to remember to place the hot water spigot over the grounds after filling. The 180 degree Open/Close pouring lid is sharp and slippery. Almost impossible to decant at first due to vacuum lock.
Finally, the dopey "topper" that is designed to plug a hole in the top and middle of the pouring lid. You need to pay close attention to this "latter day milk bottle puncher". In the early morning hours, it is possible to forget that it is affixed to the pouring lid and the design will allow you to stick it under the grounds receptacle.
This affords you a half day of mopping up your kitchen and getting very personal with all of your affected utensils, pots, pans and your dishwasher.
It would be nice if the R & D folks would look this over again. They cured the overflow problem but other problems were left in the wake of their wizardry.

Zorjirushi Coffee Maker

by Jane, TN
January 2, 2009

I read a review of this product in the Rachael Ray magazine which rated it the best coffee maker for keeping coffee hot after brewing. Since we have always been disappointed with previous coffee makers because the burners did not keep coffee hot, we were especially interested in researching our next coffee maker before purchase. The Zorirushi is excellent - the coffee is delicious and stays very hot for hours.

Coffee Lover

by Elena, NY

We drink a lot of coffee. My last, and best, coffee maker had a broken cord, and I did not want to spend a great amount of $$ for another. This one looked good, had good ratings, and was not too expensive. We are very pleased with it. It makes a good daily cup of coffee. The top can be difficult to turn to open, but it stays hot for quite some time. Not as good as the one I lost, but a surprisingly good replacement for under $100.

meets all my needs

Has a thermal carafe and an auto setting--the 2 most important things about a coffee maker. You have to be careful when screwing the top on because it becomes hard to open once the coffee is hot if you screw it on too tightly. I would like to find a reusable coffee filter for this machine but my old gold filter is too large.
Overall it's a good machine and I would definitely recommend it.

This was a gift to our son-in-law who researches products carefully. He was delighted with the choice and the concepts involved. I have not yet heard that the coffee made is perfect. That will come later, I'm sure.

Best caraffe coffee maker for the home!!

by Tom, FL
May 30, 2009

Compared to Krups, this coffee maker trumps it. The coffee is hotter, carafe keeps coffee hotter longer, and no leaks like the Krups carafe brewer. This Zojirushi has been in service for a month without needing a reset of the clock and automatic brew setting. Glad I saw this featured on Cooking.com

Rad coffee pot!

by Sarah, NY
December 3, 2009

We got this as a replacement when our Cuisinart all-on-one started leaking water all over the counter. I must admit to being sad about switching to a grinderless pot, but it was all for nought: this coffee pot rocks! It's super lightweight and the carafe keeps the coffee hot for HOURS! Really! My husband poured a cup from the morning's brew in the afternoon and it was still hot! Not lukewarm, hot! Great buy, Consumer Reports was right on the money!

Did not last

by martine, SC

We had the first machine for a couple of years. Very happy. It broke, we ordered a new machine, it worked 10 mornings and then broke. Ordered another machine, that one worked 2 mornings.
Sorry, went to another trade mark.
Hope to get our money soon.
Your people are very charming.

The Zojirushi thermal carafe is by far the best at keeping the temperature. I have it in a very cold place and still the coffee is hot, and stays hot longer than I expected. The only negative comment I received was from someone who prefers a glass pot. He feels the flavor of the coffee is compromised by a metal carafe. I didn't find anything objectionable about the flavor. I also appreciate how quiet it is when it's brewing.

Excellent coffee maker - just have to be careful and not screw the lid on too tight or it can be difficult to get off. Keeps coffee hot. Good design.

The coffee maker is simple and easy to use. It's beautiful and looks good on my counter. It makes great coffee. Overall, I am very happy with it. The only negative I would have to say is that the lid is very hard to turn. Other than that, it's great.

Just perfect

by Randy, NY
May 30, 2011

I had just returned a coffee pot for grounds getting in and drips all over the counter. Feeling kind of silly I tried again. Great coffee pot! No stains on the counter, no grounds in the pot, just smooth hot coffee that stays hot in the thermos.

Keeps coffee at good drinking heat for many hours after being made. No more burned, dried-up crust from sitting in pot on a warm burner all day. Last cup is as tasty as the first.
