I've always wanted a bamboo steamer and was happy to find this one at a great price. The instructions call for using a steam-proof plate inside, but didn't with fine results.

When you take it out of the box, there's a strong smell, buut after a few uses it goes away. I loveitfor steaming vegetables.

I've had my steamer basket since the 80's. When asparagus comes in season in our area, we serve it to dinner guests. My sister-in-law wanted one like mine, so I ordered her one for her birthday. She, too, loves hers! Mariana Hatcher

I purchased this item because I love cooking and a love many different kinds of foods. I don't like to stick to the same thing. And so I purchased this steamer with intentions of using it for steaming vegetable dumplings etc. This steamer is perfect just the right size and it steams perfectly every time. I like that it is light weight and that it is easy to use.

I enjoy cooking oriental foods and I think the Bamboo Steamer is a great buy for the money.

Bamboo Steamer is great!

The Joyce Chen Bamboo steamer was the first steamer I ever used and I loved it! When it finally fell apart, I picked up another one at an Asian market and used that one until it fell apart. I tried to find another bamboo steamer in local stores, but had no luck. I decided to try on line and was thrilled when I found one on Cooking.com. I am thrilled with my new steamer and the discovery that the company that first introduced me to bamboo steamers is still making a quality product - Sturdy construction and attractive design make it a pleasure to use. The bamboo also gives a "true steaming" effect that is much better that using metal steamers.

Excellent steamer, especially for the price

This is a great steamer. It is really well made - very sturdy and solid feeling. Considering the low price of this steamer, it has been a fantastic purchase. We steam vegetables nearly every night. This steamer has held up very well. All three pieces fit very well together (no piece too tight or too loose). The steamer fits very comfortably on top of a 10 inch chef's pan, and I'm sure would work equally well on any other 10 inch pot or pan.

Steamer for Dim Sum

I use this for dim sum both for my family and large parties including our annual Chinese New Party. It works well. I have used it in an electric wok and it does very well. The quality of the bamboo and the workmanship is not as good as my others. One piece had cracked and was loose in the box when I opened it and another can loose the first time I used it. They were not large or in area that affected the use of the steamer.

I misjudged the size of the steamer and actually have to buy a larger diameter pan, but overall, I LOVE it! Came in very handy to make multiple batches of healthy, delicious steamed veggies. I have not tried it withy any meat or fish yet.

I love it! This is my new favorite way to cook vegetables. Its easy to use and easy to clean. It cooks vegies like a dream and who knew they could taste so good! I just wish I had purchased something like this sooner.

this is the 2nd joyce chen steamer i've purchased lately (1st one from amazon.com) that arrived broken. i feel the quality of this brand of steamer has diminished greatly. the base of the trays was broken, both times. and they were both splintered beyond what should be expected with a bamboo steamer.

I am extremely impressed with teh product and the service of Cooking.com. The product was of excellent quality, and I will definitely be using Cooking,com again. Thank you!
