The perfect sandwich requires great ingredients, judicious use of complimentary condiments and, most importantly, the ideal bread-to-filling ratio. Presliced bread takes all the guesswork out of the sandwich building balancing act, but those of us exacting eaters who waffle between thick-cut ciabatta for our paninis, thin slices of pumpernickel for our cream cheese and cucumber creations and a few pieces of half-inch-wide sliced rye to cradle our turkey and cheese, we need the remarkable precision of the Wusthof 10-in. Classic Bread Knife. Made of high-carbon stainless steel, the blade on this bread knife is hardened to maintain its impressive sharpness use after use. Wusthof employs state of the art computer technology to ensure their knife's edges are precise, honed to be 30 percent sharper and with an ICP (Initial Cutting Performance) that lasts twice as long as that of a hand-sharpened blade. The Wusthof Bread Knife has a serrated edge that glides through crusty bread, rolls and even lightweight cakes to make clean cuts without the slightest hint of ripping or squishing. Cut off only what you need, and the rest of your newly baked bounty will stay fresh long, making for less waste — and a far more delicious lunch. You may love your chef's knife, but once you experience the clean edges left behind by this beautiful bread knife, you'll soon find you can't slice without it.
Best Used For:
Whether you prefer your favorite artisan bread and rolls store bought or like to roll up your sleeves and bake at home, you'll love the ability to slice your favorite loafs to your exact specifications. This knife is also great for slicing delicate pastries like soft and spongy angel food and pound cakes and crumbly profiteroles.

Wusthof Bread Knife
I am very pleased with my purchase of the Wusthof Bread Knife. I now can cut bread, rolls, bagels, even thick crust .
I recommend this knife to anyone who is looking for a Bread Knife at a good value
I previously had Henckels "Twin Collection Friodur" bread knife that was barely 8" long. Beautiful design, but like any serrated knife, it was not easy to keep it really sharp over the 12 years I had it. I regularly sharpen all of my non-serrated knives on a Chef's Choice edge select 120 which works great, but it can only use the deburring pad on a serrated knife. So I was going to send it out for professional reconditioning and sharpening - but it also wasn't quite long enough to cut through the round boules I often bake, so I was looking for something a bit longer.
So I bought this classic 10" bread knife instead (which IS made in Solingen, Germany - the good stuff). Very pleased with the ordering and shipping process from cooking.com - it arrived promptly and was very well packed. I could not be happier with the knife - it is SO sharp, I can cut paper-thin slices if I want to. The length is just right, it fits into my knife block, but is long enough for the round boules. The construction detail is flawless as you would expect from Henckels. The wood handle wouldn't be my first choice, but it is beautiful. It doesn't match anything else in my knife set, but I guess nothing matches - that really isn't important to me. I'd rather have the best tool for the job regardless of brand or style - and this is one great bread knife. Time will tell how the blade sharpness holds, I have only had it for a few weeks.
This knife is perfect. Have been baking my own bread and got a bread guide for cutting even slices. This knife is the perfect lenght to cut with. Wish I'd bought this one before the 8". Live and learn.
This is a great bread knife, which I bought because it was recommended by Cooks Illustrated. It is great - easy to cut bread, but it's price did make me pause before I bought it. I own other Wusthof and am always very pleased with all its features.
