Beautiful design, but like any serrated knife, it was not easy to keep it really sharp over the 12 years I had it. I regularly sharpen all of my non-serrated knives on a Chef's Choice edge select 120 which works great, but it can only use the deburring pad on a serrated knife. So I was going to send it out for professional reconditioning and sharpening - but it also wasn't quite long enough to cut through the round boules I often bake, so I was looking for something a bit longer. So I bought this classic 10" bread knife instead (which IS made in Solingen, Germany - the good stuff). Very pleased with the ordering and shipping process from cooking.com - it arrived promptly and was very well packed. I could not be happier with the knife - it is SO sharp, I can cut paper-thin slices if I want to. The length is just right, it fits into my knife block, but is long enough for the round boules. The construction detail is flawless as you would expect from Henckels. The wood handle wouldn't be my first choice, but it is beautiful. It doesn't match anything else in my knife set, but I guess nothing matches - that really isn't important to me. I'd rather have the best tool for the job regardless of brand or style - and this is one great bread knife. Time will tell how the blade sharpness holds, I have only had it for a few weeks.

It is great - easy to cut bread, but it's price did make me pause before I bought it. I own other Wusthof and am always very pleased with all its features.
