The reason I bought this replacement lid is because about a week after my wife got the 8 quart pot and lid, she bumped the lid with her elbow or caught in on her sleeve and knocked it to the floor in the kitchen. It apparently flipped over (likely due to the weight of the metal handle) and landed on the handle, shattering it into hundreds of glass pieces all over the kitchen floor!! I think the lid itself is beautiful and it's great to be able to see what's in the pot and how the cooking is going, but I think it very stupid that the company did not think this through. They should have made the glass out of bullet proof glass or out of something that would NOT break when dropped!! Do you know anyone who's Never dropped anything? This was not well thought out. Perhaps another way to fix it would be to make the handle out of softer material so it would cushion the fall, or give it a flexibility at the interface between the glass and the metal handle in the middle of the glass. Anyway, beautiful, but I hope I don't have to keep buying new lids every couple of weeks!!
