I bought this kit for my son who is a dedicated cook and who LOVES sushi. As far as I know, he has never made it. Unfortunately, I bought this as his Father's Day present, so it hasn't been used yet. I keep getting requests to review however, so thought I should say something! If other Epicurious experiences are any predictor of excellence, I feel confident that this gift will be received gladly and used with wonderful results. This is why I rated it the highest in each category. Thanks to E. for offering unique and high-quality products!

This sushi kit was amazing!! It is the only one I've found that has everything you need for a great price. The directions were great and I've already recommended it to all of my friends! Great date night idea too :)

I bought the product as a christmas gift for someone. Although the shipping package seemed very well insulated and sealed, the actual product was broke. The Rice bag inside the box must of had a hole in it. When i received the package there was rice loose and out of the bag inside the product box. I ended up giving the gift with some extra money for new rice along with my apologies to them for the trouble and damaged gift. It is a unique gift so I think they will enjoy everything else included. And hopefully, mine was just a fluke thing and they are not all damaged. If everything would have been normal, I think the price would not be that bad.
