I had something similar to this product years ago and loved it because it made the fluffiest mashed potatoes. This also makes great refried beans. It can be used with a variety of vegetables. For picky eaters, you can put carrots, yams, different squashes through and add them to mashed potatoes. It's a great gadget that you'll wonder how you ever cooked without it.

I've used different potato ricers, some were okay, but rusted when I washed them, some I didn't like at all.
This potato ricer was great. It hasn't rusted, it easy to work with and I love the way the potato comes out. The size is great for small batches.
I'd recommend this ricer to anyone.
Easy to handle
After a few dismal batches of dense gnocchi, I learned that a potato ricer was the secret to making them turn out light and fluffy. I was concerned that it may be difficult to press potatoes through this ricer, but even my small hands made short work of a pound or two of russets. And the gnocchi were wonderful!

Perhaps I misread the product description, but the ricer was less than expected. It was a gift and therefore I have not personally seen it, but the recepient indicated to me that the ricer bowl was very small and the quality of the stainless steel and the construction was not as good as a similar ricer I purchased for less than half the cost of the OXO. I would not recommend this product and would be very careful ordering anything in the future. It was a gift for my son who recently graduated from college and moved to California from Michigan. I gave him a ricer when he left which cost $10.00. I wanted to send a better quality ricer and therefore ordered the OXO thinking for the cost it would last longer and serve him better. He was reluctant to tell me how disappointing it was.

The potato ricer is a must in your kitchen. I will be purchasing more for gifts. Potatoes never tasted so good, no need to add all that cream and butter.

This is a very good unit but on the pricy side-
7 of 13 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »Ricer is on the bottom only very hard to push thru potatoes. Cheaply made don't think it will hold up for any long time

6 of 6 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »It does the job, but unlike other Oxo items I have used, it is very hard to press -- The handling is awkward and difficult -- IT takes two hands to use.
6 of 6 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »It works well but is not very practical as it is small and has to be refilled several times. In the process, you get residue of riced potatoes all over the place when you refill it.
5 of 5 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »Really like this ricer, easy to use. Discovered works best when about half full, then squeezes through easily. If you completely fill the ricer, it is difficult to squeeze through. I bought one for myself, my two daughters and my dtr-in-law. It's a quick and easy way to have perfectly mashed potatoes.

Excellent. Really love. Can't imagine how I have gotten along without it.

This ricer is a little small and the potatoes need to be cut up before mashing. For my family I wish I had got one of the larger ricers.

I used the potato ricer to make potato pancakes. Even though you use day old mashed potatoes I used the ricer to make them extra smooth.
I found using the ricer a little difficult because you really have to push the two levers together real hard. But I'm sure with more use it will become easier to handle.
potato ricer
This product is built very well. It really makes potatoes turn out smooth and creamy but is really only meant to be used for small amounts of potatoes. If you are cooking for more than 6 people you will be spending a lot of time 'riceing'. Well worth the money.

I found this ricer VERY difficult to use. Small and very hard to press potatoes through- even with potatoes that were small in size and cooked well. I am looking for my paperwork so I can return it.
