Handy Colander

by Terri, TX
July 4, 2008

This colander is heavy duty and great for many different applications. I put it on a 5 gallon bucket when getting vegetables from the garden then take right to sink.

Great Product!

Well constructed adjusts easily. High quality mesh. Only downside is that it takes up a bit of cupboard space, but the convenience of using it far outweighs that minor drawback. Plan to include it in all my new household gift packages from now on.

I bought this collander because I was having a dinner party for 8 and I was afraid the pasta I was cooking wouldn't fit into my old (much smaller) collander. The "legs" of the collander were a little too short to stretch across the width of my sink but it worked fine across the "height" of the sink (i.e., from spigot to edge of counter). The moment of truth came when I poured out HUGE pot of pasta (two pounds worth) and it EASILY fit into the collander even with room to spare. I will totally use this for draining strawberries or veggies too -- its size makes it really great to use. Even though I usually cook for small numbers, the recipes I make usually serve 4 or more (and then I just pack up for leftovers/lunches), so the size will be convenient even for larger groups.

Somewhat helpful

This expandable colander is nice but I've found the basket to be too small for what I was planning to use it for. I purchased it mainly for cleaning and rinsing all the fresh veggies from our garden. This item just doesn't handle large bunch of veggies. If you normally have only small batches of things to clean and drain, this works great. I especially like how it keeps the food way up high off the bottom on the sink (but that does tend to lead to lots of splashes).

This is wonderful, so easy to clean all your veggies and you don't have to worry about it slipping into the sink like so many others do.It's just ideal. Love it and it washes up just as easy as 1 2 3... Freeda

I think the product is a good kitchen tool and the price was good, however it was broken when I opened the box, so it's never been used.

The convenience of this colander is great. Being able to have a sturdy non moving area to drain large amounts of food is very convenient, especially when you need both hands to pour the pot.

This is a great colander, especially for large amount of pasta, etc. It can't tip from the weight of the food. I love it!

A product that does what it's supposed to

by Sharkey, MT
March 27, 2008

This product is a snap to both use and clean. It has easily handles everything we have used in the kitchen from berries and pasta to vegetables and lettuce. With the arms out and straddling the sink you can quickly empty any pot into it, catch everything and it stays put When emptying it you can slide in one arm and just pour everything out the end, again without spilling anything.

It does need to be stored carefully to not mash the screen, However, that is a very minor consideration considering how well it does the job it is supposed to.
