it measures in ounces but in fractions! I wanted grams, so this product wasn't helpful. It looks great though. I returned it for a european model, which does measure in grams and ouces and is in decimals which is more accurate than fractions.

My wife likes the accuracy of the scale and is pleased that it is easy to use.

Now I see why they use these in Europe!

I originally purchased this scale to simplify breadmaking -- rather than measure out over four cups of flour, I like the simplicity of pouring it in until the mass is correct. Since then, however, I've come to prefer cooking with weights instead of volumes, and I now know why my friend in Ireland is so fond of measuring with her kitchen scale. I use it for flour, butter (and can now buy butter in bulk, I don't need the measurement paper!), spices, all sorts of things. My husband expected this to be one of those kitchen tools that goes up on a high shelf 95% of the time, but we are using it almost every time we cook.

The scale measures either English or Metric units, and is simple to use. It tares quickly, measures accurately, and is simple to clean. My only critique is that the buttons are a little bit small, but that does not impair the use.

THIS IS A MUST IN EVERY KITCHEN.

We buy in large quantities at Sam's Club. We then divide the meat into 1 and 2 pound freezer bags, pasta into 8oz and 16 oz. etc. This scale converts easily from solid to liquid measurements and just as easily from engish to metric. I was a little sceptical spending the extra money for this model, but now am very happy that I did. It stands up on its back end for stoage in a slim space about the size of a cookbook and is very easy to clean. Hardly a day goes by without using it. My only Con about this scale is that you cannot use a full size plate to weigh anything because the rim covers up the display, but even large mixing bowls work perfectly.

I like the ease of converting from grams to ounces, and back. Also, being able to weigh up to 11 pounds has been great for cooking in larger quantities.

My son is a professional chef and gave me a book that required weighing for baking. I had a spring scale but needed a more accurate scale . Baking using scaled measurment and a good oven, you will find that you have better results. This scale is great.

Indispensible for bread-making!

With the price of bread these days, I am going back to the trusty bread machine. This scale weighs all ingredients so accurately that I do not have to fuss with the dough, like adding water or flour while it is kneading. I especially like the feature which allows you to weigh both wet and dry ingredients with a simple button change . It automatically subtracts the weight of the container so you get only the weight of the ingredient--so convenient.

Perfect Kitchen scale

I find more and more recipes requiring measuring by weight. After many years of measuring by cups, tablespoons and teaspoons I thought it would be difficult adjusting to measuring by weight. This scale now has made me a convert, measuring by weight is best (Alton Brown would be proud of me).

Aquatronic Kitchen Scale by Salter

by Tamara, FL

I am an Alton Brown fan. I fell in love with his digital scale. The scale Alton Brown uses on his show, however, is German-made and a lot more expensive that the Salter. After some comparison shopping, I ordered the Salter. I've used it a couple of times already and I am very pleased with my decision.

Great scale

September 13, 2008

After watching Alton Brown tout the benefits of a kitchen scale for years, I finally decided to invest in one. This one is great--it gives accurate measurements, has a tare button to add additional items to the same bowl by weight, and best of all is slim and contemporary and stores on its side. I'd buy it again.

The scale works very well, is lightweight, and takes up very little space. I use it daily to measure food for meals and am quite satisfied.

I find myself using this scale for everything! I had originally only bought it to use for portion control, but find that it is great for baking and other uses as well. It is very nice that it has an easy to use zeroing function that you can use between adding different items to the same bowl.

Weighing In

I used this scale to weigh flour and other ingredients for baking bread, and then for weighing a small package to mail. Very useful all around and I like the looks of it as well.

I like it. First good kitchen scale I have owned. Love the fluid measurement ability, the auto taring. And it is beautiful. Looks a little fragile - so I will have to use it awhile to see if it is durable.

I like the ability to zero out while adding other ingredients. Also being able to measure liquids and in grams. Have used it almost daily since it came, while my old scale sat unused on the top shelf.
