We host exchange students almost every year. Cooking and baking together have always been "family time" activities. While doing our Christmas baking we always try to include something from our student's family traditions. In the past I tried to use conversion charts for the different measurements which didn't always work so well. This year I got the scale, and what a difference it makes since many European recipies go by weight.
It looks nice enough to leave out (standing on it's side by the the microwave) so it is ready for use. Since it is so handy, I have discovered just how wonderful it is to use for many differnt things, including portion control!
