This grill is FANTASTIC! It exceeded my expectations. I love that you can use it open or closed and that it can be used as a grill or griddle. The best part is that the plates come off for easy cleaning. I had another grill that was tough to clean so this one is great.
I saw the ads on TV and knew we wanted to try it. We have several non-electric grill pans and although we are pleased with the cooking result, the cleanup is less than a stellar experience. We have a Circulon where things stick not only to the grooves but the circular pattern. We have a Le Creuset cast iron that needs a lot of scrubbing and you're not supposed to use soap! The same holds true for the Lodge grill that covers two burners on my cooktop.
The Griddler gets very hot and cooks very quickly and evenly. Cleanup is a snap! We haven't needed to put the grids in the dishwasher either since they are so easy to clean. I just wish there were more recipes and detailed instructions about how long to estimate cooking times and what temperatures to use.
In the uses I've had so far, this griddler has done nicely, although I'm still learning the nuances of the grills temperature settings. It seems to need a bit less on the settings than one would think. One can always 'undercook' and add a bit more time, but set the temperature too high and it will quickly overcook food items. Temperature across the grill or griddle seems uniform, no 'hot' or 'cool' spots but I do seem to note a variance between the top element heat and bottom, but this is dealt with when I turn food over. If you're cooking pannini though you wouldn't tend to flip an item, so uniform appearance might necessitate a flip. Cleanup is easy with the unit and the removable grill/griddle plates are really nice.

I love this machine! I use it at least a couple of times each week. It makes great sandwiches, burgers, and pancakes. I love how fast it can cook meat and fish. Cleanup is a breeze too. Just an overall great product!
I was impressed by the size, being able to leave it out on the counter. I know from experience, the best appliance isn't worth much when it is constantly out of sight. I started using it right away, and was very impressed! This was one item that totally lived up to it's name. It heats evenly, cooks quickly, and is so attractive on my countertop I leave it out for constant use. I probably use it about 3 times a week. I can truly recommend this product for anyone. Thanks for a great grill!!
finally got to test-drive my griddler last night. i was only nominally following directions or a recipe, and so made a bit of a mess.
but the end result (quesadillas) was very tasty. came out as i'd hoped. was impressed with the total cooking surface area, and especially pleased with how easily the griddle plates just wiped clean of the melted cheeses in between.
an excellent product. my friends covet my griddler already...
This is not a put away appliance! I us it all the time. Not sure if I would fry bacon on it...I do not like to fry foods that splatter allot! But what I have cooked on it we have enjoyed. I had a George Foreman Grill that I replaced with the Grill by Cuisinart, and liked it okay...But I love the Grill by Cuisinart, the adjustable lid, makes things brown & cook evenly. It is also allot more versatile. Thanks Cooking.com Julie
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He used it for 4 straight meals in a row: eggs/bacon, grilled burritos, grilled sandwiches, pancakes and loves it. We have grilled chicken, pork, and fish as well. Everything has been great and clean up is very easy. It's wonderful that you can place the removable plates in the dishwasher, and the cord storage in the back is ingenious as well. The only problem we've had is finding an oil that doesn't smoke when using the grill (as a result we didn't use any and our fish stuck a little...I don't think we need to turn it as high as the manual suggests). This is a great purchase...easy, fast, and versatile!
Its perfect for my cooking needs. I can perfectly grill almost anything, easy to clean, the cooking temperature is terrific, It sits permanently on my kitchen top, My panini sandwich is awsome. Everything tastes good.
I would love to buy another one next time for my mom.
I've cooked meat, fish, & vegetables so far on this grill and I am thrilled with the results. It cooks quickly and evenly, though I prefer the open grill rather than the contact grill. I find it too difficult to cook several pieces of meat or vegetables evenly if the thickness varies even slightly between the items. Haven't used the flat griddle plates yet but I plan to try them out on some eggs this weekend. Great buy & easy cleanup!
I hesitated to purchase this item due to its cost. However, when I was given a gift card for cooking.com at Christmas, I added some $$ of my own and am thankful that I did. I love this product. It is easy to use, easy to clean and the removable, griddle, panini grid makes it perfect for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! I was concerned about the grease drippings (other reviews claimed that because it was not slanted, the grease didn't drip well.) This proved to be wrong. I've not had any problems with this at all.
Well worth the money, cuisinart has always proved to me to be a solid appliance company and I'm hoping that it will last a long time.
I purchased this grill as a gift for my boyfriend and so far he has grilled pretty-much everything from filet-minon to grilled cheese and it worked great on all of it.
I, of course, have the job of clean up and it cleans easier than anything else in the kitchen (except for the steel hood which gets fingerprint marks that don't wipe off easily).
it stores nicely in the cabinet and takes no time to set up. And if you have guests over for dinner, it's simple and it's not an unpleasant looking piece of equipment!
USING THE DIRECTIONS IN THE COOKING GUIDE, THE BURGERS WERE BURNED BECAUSE OF THE TEMPERATURE SO I TRIED A 2nd TIME WITH TEMPERATURE LOWER AND THEY WERE TOO DRY. I TRIED CHICKEN BREASTS AND THEY WERE TOO DRY, THEN I TRIED A PANNINI AND IT BURNED SO I GAVE THE PRODUCT AWAY AND WENT BACK TO A SKILLET OR STOVE TOP GRILL !!!!
The ease of washing the grilling plates in the dishwasher is just as advertised--a breeeze. However, one big minus is that rather than a floating hinge design where the top plate stays horizontal and the height adjusts to the thickness of the food being grilled, this machine's top plate swivels, so that it comes down over the food at an angle, and can squish the insides of a sandwich out from between the bread slices, as it slides the top slice to the back of the machine. To prevent this, you have to hold the top half in a horizontal position by hand, and since it gets too hot to touch, that means you have to remember to have a good potholder near at hand when bringing the top down. It's an annoyance.
I am extremely pleased with the quality and versatility of this product. I am a very good cook, and don't often use gadgets, but this is well worth it! My teenagers use it constantly to make quesadillas and paninis, which they would normally not do-they are more of the
I've been a George Foreman grill user for years. I've had at least 5 of them and I bought one for my son. However, this grill is much hotter and faster than a George Foreman. It takes a little getting used to how fast it cooks. I always had to crank the GF up as high as it would go but this baby is so hot, I need to turn it down and actually pay attention the temp setting. I share some other reviewer's opinion that it would be nice if this grill were slanted downward to help drain grease. This grill is easy to clean, the grill plates come off for cleaning. I'm very happy with the Cuisinart grill and I hope it lasts a long time. It was well worth the money.
