I had never heard of French Beechwood to be honest, but I like my wooden spoons & needed to replace one. This spoon looks great. It is smooth & sturdy. Depending on if it wears well, I would love to get additional cooking items made from French Beechwood. It seems much less pourous than my bamboo cooking utensils, which I consider a plus.

I recieved my spoon and really liked it. The only problem with it is the wood is very rough around the edges but other than that I am satisfied with the spoon.

It's hard to imagine writing a review of such a simple and inexpensive item, but so many wood spoons are terrible. This one is excellent --- it's just the right shape to stir average pots and the head is small enough and shaped properly to stir every bit of food in the corners of pots and pans. And it is smoothly finished --- very well sanded --- but untreated and uncoated with varnish. I always try to avoid wooden spoons treated with varnish, which may be toxic. I'd rather just wipe a little of my own organic olive oil over the spoon. This spoon is highly recommended. I wish cooking.com carried it in 14" in addition to the 12" version.

I guess I didn't realize how very small these were. Terrible. I was expecting the big spoon that you see all the chefs using on the TV.
