12 inch spoon was out of stock. Liked the fact that I was emailed when they were back in stock.
Was worth the wait. Seem very sturdy.

Excellent Kitchen Staple

by Thomas, IL
July 5, 2011

I've had a few different wooden spoons, but after reading positive reviews of these I thought I'd give them a try. They are in fact very easy to use, and I will likely continue to use them. The thin wooden handle makes them easy to maneuver, and despite their delicate appearance they have no problem dealing with thick stews or casseroles. I did treat these with some cutting board oil, hoping to prevent staining and odors. These are very cheap, but also hard to get for some reason; they are frequently unavailable on the internet and I have never seen them in a retail location. I'll probably buy a half-dozen the next time I place an interenet order just to have them on hand.

Beechwood mixing spoon

by Michele, MI

I guess I didn't realize how very small these were. Terrible. I was expecting the big spoon that you see all the chefs using on the TV.

This is an excellent spoon

by John, VT

It's hard to imagine writing a review of such a simple and inexpensive item, but so many wood spoons are terrible. This one is excellent --- it's just the right shape to stir average pots and the head is small enough and shaped properly to stir every bit of food in the corners of pots and pans. And it is smoothly finished --- very well sanded --- but untreated and uncoated with varnish. I always try to avoid wooden spoons treated with varnish, which may be toxic. I'd rather just wipe a little of my own organic olive oil over the spoon. This spoon is highly recommended. I wish cooking.com carried it in 14" in addition to the 12" version.

French wooden spoon

I recieved my spoon and really liked it. The only problem with it is the wood is very rough around the edges but other than that I am satisfied with the spoon.

Not bad

I was looking for a spoon to replace the old spoon I got from another store. While this spoon is nice, and durable, I was looking for something where the bowl was larger.

It's good for small pots and stirring things that don't require a lot of heavy duty mixing.

Great for baking

This spoon is really great when you are mixing cookie doughs or cake batters. It is strong enough to cut through the ingredients and mix thoroughly and the perfect length for use in the kitchen. When you don't have a mixer, this is a great alternative for mixing all the ingredients.

Junk; don't buy

by Jeffrey, MD
November 11, 2007

This spoon is not very good. The material is rather cheap and rough, and the bowl is on the small side, making it not too useful. Skip this spoon, and buy something else. The Mario Batali spoons are much nicer.

The spoon is a good value for the price but it was not what i was looking for the spoons are a small shaft thay make a heavy duty one the pic's are deseving and you need to soak your spoons in oil to keep them from drying out.
