The locking mechanism is one that you pull and push to lock/unlock, so its not the best design for switching between the two using just one-hand. Unless you bite at it and push it with your chin you're pretty much resigned to using two hands to lock and unlock the tongs. It would be more convenient if they had a one-handed mechanism like a gravity-driven sliding brace / lock that I've got on my other pair of tongs. Hardly a dealbreaker, though.

The locking feature allows you to store these items conviently without taking up so much room. Just the right size for turning bacon or t-bone steaks.
