Great skillet, wish it had a lid
Let me preface this by saying that the 12" All-Clad MC2 is a very fine skillet; I've used it several times with no complaint. The scullery department, aka my hubby, also has no complaints about clean-up. It's a pricey item that I got on sale, and for that reason I consider it a good value.
My only complaint is that it doesn't come with a lid, and I'm going to have to buy one separately, thus pretty much negating my "good value" rating. That's the only reason I'm not recommending that people buy it. Instead, buy the 12-in covered skillet in All-Clad's Stainless line (which is the ATK recommended one), on sale for just a few dollars more than this one!
I have to say I'm kind of peeved that, even though I looked pretty carefully through the products on this site when I was shopping for All-Clad, I didn't see that the Stainless covered skillet was on sale. I didn't know it until I'd received the MC2, used it, and then happened to leaf through the little mini-catalog that came with the order! If I hadn't already used the MC2, I would have gladly returned it and ordered the covered version.
I love this skillet. This is my first All-Clad purchase. I have a traditional pots/pans set (Belgique) that I have been using for over 15 years with no problem. But until now, I have used a non-stick skillet for everything I needed a (large) skillet for. And every 2-3 years, I need to get a new non-stick skillet because the surface gets scratched. My first choice would have been from the traditional All-Clad series, but the MC2 line was on sale. I cook nearly every day, and the skillet has been exceptional. It heats evenly, not too quickly, does not have hot/hence sticky spots and food makes a wonderful fonde. It is not a non-stick skillet, so don't expect it to clean like one. That is the nature of the beast. Depending on what you cook, you may need some elbow grease to clean the pan. I would invest in some Bar Keepers Friend to make cleaning easier. Using this skillet certainly does cut down on the use of my non-stick skillet; in fact I prefer to use the All-Clad skillet because I think it makes the food taste better. It is certainly easier to monitor the cooking process because the pan is not black. So, yes - I would certainly purchase this again, and I am absolutely delighted with it! By the way, I ordered, and received my shipment within a week. Exceptional service form cooking.com.

It does not live up my expectations of All-Clad. The pan was very much like something you would find at a discount department store but with an inflated price.
I returned it immediately and will never purchase anything from that line again.
Good for cooking and home security
The pan retains heat very well. So well, that coming from far inferior pans I have to watch the heat setting I use.
The pan, like most All-Clad is heavy though. It comes with a two handed length handle, which is good for keeping the handle cool and for allowing you to club down any burglars who might enter your kitchen.
The one downside is that the interior did discolor the first time I used the pan. No amount of scrubbing with steel wool would remove the stain.
I needed a skillet that I could heat to high temperature, as I learned that I should not really be doing that with my non-stick pan. I bought this one based on product ratings in the Cook's Illustrated website. I have now used it for frying, sauteeing, and oven-baking and I have found that it cooks evenly and heats quickly. It is also level on my smooth cooking surface which my older skillets were not. It is a bit on the heavy side for me: I have to use both arms to lift it. After washing it still had white spots on it, that is why not top marks.

I bought this to replace a 12 inch cast iron skillet that won't work on my new ceramic cooktop. My one criticicism is I had to buy a cover separately for the All-clad skillet. Otherwise I would have rated it a 5.
This is my second All-Clad item. I like their stainless steel. It heats evenly and is easy to clean, if you follow All-Clad's directions.
Nice sized skillet
This is by far the easiest skillet I have ever used. No hot spots; even cooking. Must be used with a lower temperature than most. I do wish skillets would come with available lids as sometimes I want to control the spatter. Highly recommend.

As a professional chef, my cookware is my business. All-clad is the only cookware that lives up to my expectations. Exceptional looking as well as outstanding perfermance. Heats up quickly, no hotspots and maintains heat as items are placed in pan. The only line the I would recommend more is the Copper-core. Only draw back is the price.
Amazing pan that will be a workhorse for years to come.
What else can you say about All-Clad. If you watch as many cooking shows as I do (and I watch a lot of them) it's the pan you see the most on stove of the chefs on the shows. I love this pan. It works well. Cleans up easily. It's just a great pan. At the price I got it at, it was a steal! Even at the usual MSRP, it's a great value for a pan you'll have and use forever!

I recently purchased this 12-inch stainless steel skillet by All-Clad. I am no professional chef, but I do like to cook two or three times a week. I find that for searing meats, preparing chicken cutlets, shrimp scampi, and several other applications, a skillet of this size is almost a

All-clad makes extremely fine cookware. I am slowly replacing some much loved cookware that is in worn and dreadful condition with shiny new All-clad.

Great Skillet for meals, keeps heat spread out very even.
Very disappointed. Followed guidelines of manufacturer and almost every will stick. Cleaning pan is awful, dry immediately and get white colored stains on cooking surface. To keep the cooking surface bright and shiney you need to wipe a little oil over area asyo would wth a cast iron skillet.

I am a beginner cook in the sense of having confidence enough in the kitchen to just throw together ingredients and have it come out fabulous. I kept reading about even cooking, carmelizing, getting the garlic to fragrance without burning and it wasn't happening for me. So I decided to get a great skillet without the coating and see if I could, too, create. I had my eye on a more expensive All Clad for a year ($135) and then you had a sale and I got this one. I can do it! I do all those things mentioned above and cleaning is like cleaning a ceramic dish. I absolutely DELIGHT in using this skillet. I create meals from scratch and they are tasty and fast. This skillet is worth every penny. Love the lifetime guarantee.
Thank you for introducing me to a whole new world.
I LOVE THIS PAN!!!!!!!
This pan was purchased for two reasons. First, I had purchased a Cook's Illustrated Magazine because of a roast chicken recipe in the magazine. Then I went to America's Test Kitchen to get a product review to purchase a fry pan that is oven proof used in the roast chicken recipe.
I love the tracking feature that allows the customer to track the progress of the product. It came quickly. I have made the roast chicken twice now and absolutely love the recipe and the pan. ALSO, thet pan is used daily now for a host of other things.. I love the cooking surface and the fact I can now saute all my vegetables at once instead of in batches. When I make chicken marsala, I can cook two breasts at the same time. That's saying a lot, as the chickent breasts are pounded to be thinner.
Buy this pan, you won't be sorry.

Bought this pan on sale - what a deal! The pan is incredible for caramelizing onions, browning, sauté and searing meats.

I love, love this pan and Cooking.com for carrying it. I watch America's Test Kitchen and they reviewed this as the best frypan. Thank you for Cooking.com for making it available to want-a-be great cooks everywhere. I sauteed peppers and onions last night in a little olive oil and everything cooked perfectly even. Great, great pan!
