This griddle is a pleasure to use. It heats evenly, has a beautiful heft to it, and I just love it. So far, I have made pancakes, blueberry blintzes (for the final browning), and bacon. I cut the bacon in half and it holds plenty and the bacon cooks evenly.
I have other all clad pieces and find the all clad is worth the expense.
When I was on vacation this year, I happened to help cook breakfast for friend's parents. They had a square All clad griddle, which I also really liked. Using their griddle prompted me to buy the All Clad upon my return.
Issues
First thing I noticed is that the box it came in says "made in China". The web site here states "origin: USA". That is what caused me to decide between it and another brand.
Cooking with cast iron is a lot better. I currently only have a medium cast iron skillet that only cooks one pancake at a time. I only use this one if wanting to cook 3 small pancakes at a time.
It takes a lot of patience to get the pan to finally heat the whole surface, longer than 2-3 mins. Even still the surface is hotter towards the center. Best method I've found is to start the preheat on 'med low' a few minutes then turn up flame/heat to medium for another few minutes or so.
The only good things I can say are..... it's easy to clean and has the very comfortable handle that my other All-Clad products have.
I love this pan. I use it for pancakes, vegetables, and crepes. It is also perfect for Indian crepes (dosas) and Indian tortillas (rotis, debras, and parathas). I have the square one also. Cleans up easy and cooks even and requires a lower tempaerature too. You should have atleast one of the two griddle pans in your kitchen. I couldn't choose; I have them both and I use them both.
Perfect!
This was a perfect purchase for the price. Even temperature all around. You don't have half cooked pancakes. Love it!
