  • Perugia Blend Coffee Beans by Torrefazione It

Since this company (Torrefazione) and its cafes were acquired and promptly closed by Starbucks, the quality control of the various Torrefazione blends is doubtful. The blends now prepared by Starbucks varies widely. The original objective was not, of course, to expand the coffee offering range of Starbucks but to erase a competitor. If they had continued the quality of Torrefazione I would have no complaints but Starbucks does not.

  • Expensive but worth it

This is a truly great coffee for espresso. I've tried many different roasts and keep coming back here. It's smooth and slightly nutty, with a chocolate finish. No bitterness or bad aftertaste. I ran out and bought some from a well-known large national chain and compared to this it was tasteless to drink and afterward tasted like I'd swallowed a dead rat compared to this. The only downside is that once you get it you won't want to drink anything else.

    I recommend this product.

  • Best espresso beans

I have lived and worked in the coffee-loving Pacific Northwest and western Europe.
Torrefazione was the best coffee house experience.
Perugia whole bean make the best espresso.
I hear Starbucks is discontinuing Torrefazione whole bean and will sell ground only.
To make great espresso, you must grind your own beans.
This is a terrible mistake. Please write Starbucks and let them know.

  • More bitter than I remember?

Been getting Torrefazione coffee for years, well over a decade, I'm sure. Sticking with the 'northern' blends, less burnt and bitter. It seems like the last batch is kinda bitter, or is it that my taste is more demanding all of a sudden?

    I recommend this product.

  • Excellent, but not as good as it was

This used to be a truly magnificent coffee, with taste as wonderful as the aroma. Unfortunately the quality has declined in the past couple of years. Still excellent, but not as good as it was.

  • The Bitter & the Sweet of It.

I use this blend for espresso as well as drip.

The aroma is sweet and smooth to sip with no nasty after taste (like some burnt coffees we know of). I have been drinking this brand since 1997. Much to my dismay it is disappearing off the shelves EVERYWHERE but here at cooking.com. I heard that Starbucks bought them out. Most likely to demolish competition as it seems to be the evil trend these days. Starbucks can't even compare to this brand!

Enjoy it for as long as you can because choice is not the American way anymore.

  • Perugia, ah Perugia

Not as punchy as Napoli, but a very nice coffee indeed. The usual Torrefazione attention to roasting detail. I brew in a press, probably not the way to get the best from this bean. Still excellent, though.

  • Favorite coffee

I have loved Terrafazione Italia coffee since I started getting in their little cafes, now sadly bought out and gone. My all time favorite was Roma, renamed something else. Now I don't know if it exists - so I get my second favorite, Perugia. I hope you are not selling off limited quantities and that I will continue to be able to have it. I'm addicted!

  • Best Coffee Ever

I hope Cooking.com plans to continue carrying Torrefazione Italia coffee. We can no longer purchase this brand in whole bean locally.

This coffee meets the expectations of even the pickiest of coffee snobs. I highly recommend it. Say goodbye to other brands, once you try this one.

  • Perugia whole bean coffee

I have used this coffee as whole beans for many years to make espresso in my machine at home. I first met Perugia when Torrefazione had small coffee shops in Seattle many years ago. Every time, I can make espresso that compares with the standard available at any bar in Italy: excellent.

This coffee is a little pricey, but it's good. Well worth the money for the quality. Brew a pot of this stuff in the morning and the aroma in the house will surely get your day off to a good start.

  • Espresso Beans For Machine

I was looking for an espresso bean that reminds me of the cafe crema that I have in Switzerland and Austria. Lavazza Super Crema is pretty close, but I've had too much over the past year and wanted something new. These beans are close, but too oily.

  • Great for Espresso

I have been using this coffee almost exclusively now for the last three years in my expresso machine (La Pavoni Europiccola). I order 9 lb about every three months. Bought in bulk, with shipping, cost is less than $12 a pound, delivered to my door. Always arrives fresh in about 3 days from my order date.

I prefer it to any other bean I have found for espresso; very flavorful, sweet, low on bitterness. In fact, I find it hard to stomach some of the espresso I have had at good shops compared to my own home brew.

But taste is personal. This coffee is worth a tasting, then you decide. I suspect you will order more once you have tried it.

    I recommend this product.

  • If you're looking for a rich, full-bodied coffee this would be for you. We prepare this in our french press and I get a wonderful, consistent, never bitter cup of coffee every time. When I drink it I feel like I'm being transported back to our European travels with all the wonderful coffees we found over there.

I've been drinking this coffee now for over 20 years and I still love it today! We found Torrefazione when it was being brewed by a small independent shop in Seattle. We fell in love and have only briefly dabbled with other coffee when the shop closed and we had difficulty locating a consistent source. I'm so glad Cooking.com has come through for us by carrying this wonderful coffee.

    I recommend this product.

  • Simply the best

I have used this coffee for several years. Although Starbucks bought it
a few years ago, it seems to adhere to the original roast - same flavor, aroma, etc. It's always the same and always the best.

  • Torrefazione whole beans

I have used the Perugia blend for years to make espresso at home--in fact, since Torrefazione had its own coffee shops in the Pacific Northwest. Now I think cooking.com is the only place selling them. You can make espresso comparable to what you find anywhere in northern Italy.
