We purchased this set some time ago & when we saw it on sale, we bought it for our daughter & she is enjoying using the knives. She said it made food prep so much easier.

The block is too long to fit well on a counter, When at the back splash, it sticks too far out on the counter.

You can't go wrong with this set of Wusthof steak knives. Quality German steel, made in Germany and with a lifetime warranty. This knife block has an attractive look that will really stand out on your countertop. Note that unlike the picture there are two large open slots for additional Wusthof knives that you may obtain such as a Santoku. This is a set that you could buy and use for the rest of your life.

These are good high quality knives. They have good balance, and are sharp. I wish the block had more slots for the other knive available in the full set. It has two extra slots with this set, but there are many other knives that can be purchased to complete the set.

I purchased this for my Son who is starting Cullinary Arts program in College as a 1st Knife set. I think that this is an excellent Bang for the buck. I have some Wustoff Professional Classic's of my own, and I like the edge and starting point that these knives provide.
The availability for support and value provided by Wustoff is well known and access to additional knives is readily avialable regardless where he eventually moves to.
He was excited when he opend the box and once all the knives were out, he immediatly asked to "put his block next to mine". :-)
A truely appreciated gift, and a great gift to give.

CHEAP - not even close to any professional knives. The design from blade to handle is not durable nor able to keep a professional demand and WILL cut you because of its lack of firmness. Blades are terrible poor design.

These knives were shipped and delivered in a very reasonable amount of time. They are all very sharp upon delivery. I was disappointed in the heaviness and thickness of the steel used for the blades. They are just not in the $400 price league, but okay at the$169 sale price. Do not expect top quality with this set as I was or you will be disappointed.

I had a sneaky hunch that buying these knives for my mother was possibly an accident waiting to happen, and I hate it when I'm right! I told mother to be really careful that the knives will be so much sharper then her old set. Cutting veggies the other day she cut the very tip of her finger off. The old knives were doing good to cut veggies let alone finger tips. I suggest anyone not use to very sharp knives should be very cautious and I cannot stress that enough. I feel these knives are very high quality. You can't go wrong!

Everyone who's into fine cooking accoutrements and basic tools has their theory about what's best. Knock yourself out - mine, as regards knives, is that Wuestof is fine unless you're a professional chef ...and maybe even then! The price on this deal was excellent, and I am thrilled!

It is such a pleasure to be able to prepare food with a really sharp knife. I do feel I need one more knife to complete the set, however. Something between the chef's knife and the utility knife (what my mother used to call it, a butcher's knife,) Since I have 2 empty slots in the block, I will be adding to it in the future.
