It takes a long time to heat the water and bring it to a boil. There is plenty of water for lots of pasta. I have not used the steamer option for vegetables. I may change my opinion in the summer for steaming corn. I have lots of All Clad pans and utensils and am an overall enthusiastic fan. This cooker may just take some getting used to.
