This is my first experience with a potato ricer but I had done a lot of research before purchasing this one and I was not disappointed! Once you use a ricer you will never use a mixer on potatoes again! Easy to clean and use!
This is the first potatoe ricer I have ever used. It was recommended by American's Test Kitchen. It works really well. I'm not very strong and I have small hands so I find that if I only partially fill the hopper it is much easier to use.
Product works well. The amount that it holds could be larger but all and all it works fine. Ir comes with an additional larger hole metal plate as well. The product does not come with any instructions.

I bought this ricer based on recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. It is very easy to use and doesn't require superhuman strength. It is also a breeze to clean, as all the parts are dishwasher safe. It helps me to make the fluffiest mashed potatoes!
When my son comes home for his Christmas visit, it's traditional that I make him his favorite soup-potato ham. I had seen the ricer used on an episode of Cooking that aired on PBS and ordered it. It worked really well and the riced potatoes made the soup so thick--my son loved it. The one caveat--don't overload the ricer. It makes it too hard to press the food through and makes a bit of a mess. I fault my own lack of judgement for that problem. The ricer is absolutely perfect for smaller quantities of food--a large quantity recipe would call for a bigger ricer.
I listen to product reviews on the PBS show "America's Test Kitchen". They are usually spot-on about the best products and they certainly were about this one. I hated using a potato ricer before I bought this unit. It is easy to compress the plunger which pushes the potato pieces through the bottom sieve neatly (no little hot bits of potato flying off to the side or - ouch - landing on your hand) and the ricer even has a handle to rest on the edge of the bowl. In short, it's a unassuming device that has been perfected. It's amazing how small changes can vastly improve the function of a simple tool. Buy this one and you won't regret it - and your mashed potatoes won't be lumpy!
Saw this ricer on the cooking show that tests products. They tested about five ricers and this was there favorite. I had been looking to buy one so when I saw there show I just had to order it. However they were wrong about one thing they said it cost about $25.00 so you must know my delight when I ordered it through you for $14.95. I am very pleased with it I will never use my mixer to make mashed potatos again. Thanks for a great product at a great price!
the ricer is excellent. holds quite a lot & the potatos don't go all over the place. was dubious about plastic but this is really sturdy. would like a 3rd plate with even bigger holes because the ovre-a-bowl features would keep my hands away feom boiling water if i wanted some fresh string dumplings, etc.
I saw this ricer demonstrated on America's Test Kitchen and thought I would give it a try. I wish I had this potato ricer years ago when I struggled to put flavorful, eye pleasing potatoes on my dinner table. For Thanksgiving this year the mashed potatoes were the first thing to go and everyone commented on how good they were.
This ricer makes the job easy and it's easy to cleanup. I would recommend this product, it's an excellent value that does the job!
Used it for my potato filling at Thanksgiving. Five pounds of potatoes took a little while to rice, but the end result was worth it. Smooth, creamy potatoes! The only downside, which is minor, is that potato build-up occurs on the interior sides of the ricer where they aren't pushed through.
This kitchen tool is really great! Well designed and made and very easy to use and clean. It made great "mashed" potatoes without bringing out a mixer. It was much better than the metal ricer I bought and returned last year. Great price too! Cooking.com's service is great also.
