I bought 2 of these mitts because my old ones were shot. I don't like most of the mitts you can get in department stores because they wear out in no time flat. I suspect the quilting doesn't help them, and they're usually filled with some synthetic fabric, and not much of it. These Kool-tek mitts are awesome! I use my oven a lot and now I don't have to be afraid to put my hands in to pull out pans.

Not even steam seems to penetrate them. It's good to know that when you pull something from the oven, the only thing you need worry about is where you're going to put it down.

Kool-tek is a must have. It protects as it says and is easy to slip on quickly, a feature I like since I injured my wrist.

5 of 12 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »These are the best oven mitts I have ever used. Excellent protection from heat and flexible enough to allow a good grip on pots and pans. The old saying "You get what you pay for." definitely applies to these mitts.

While these are rather expensive, they should last a lifetime and have handled very hot items with ease and good grip. I particularly like the protection they give your forearms.

The quality is first rate but they are expensive. My husband loves them, he uses them for everything from BBQ to putting heavy cast ironware into/out of the oven. I have average sized hands and find them way too big, they slide around so roomily that they are cumbersome. If there was a smaller version I'd buy another pair right away.

These work exactly as an oven mitt should. I first heard about them from Cook's Illustrated. I bought one of these plus one of their lower rated but less expensive mitts. The less expensive mitts are long in the trash; they burned, developed holes and have been discarded.
The original Kool-Tek Mitt is still in service and I've purchased 2 more - 1 15-inch and another 12-inch. Others have commented that they are not very flexible and that's true but they still work extremely well, wash well and last a long time.
Great oven mitt.
I bought this mitt after seeing it reviewed on America's Test Kitchen. It really is the best, despite the high price. Pans hot from the oven barely feel warm. I even held a 400 degree casserole for 1 minute to test them, and although my hands got warm, I never felt like they were even close to burning.

I got one of these earlier. I bought another so I could have a pair. They allow you to hold hot items longer. They protect top and bottom and up the wrist. If you are interested in matching your decor, these may not be for you. But I actually use my kitchen to cook. I tossed the drawer full of other mitts and pads.

When I ordered this mitt, I was debating between the 12 inch and 15 inch (found elsewhere.) The shorter version was cheaper, so I took a chance. I am quite pleased with the purchase. It is the perfect combination of enough coverage and thickness, without feeling too bulky. It gives great protection from the heat, but does not prevent me from properly gripping pans. I am considering ordering a second one. Cook's Illustrated recommended it and they were right.
3 of 5 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »This is a great oven mitt! I like that it is short (12") as I am small and the glove doesn't feel unwieldy and awkward like many do. Aside from comfort, it provides excellent protection from heat. It is a bit expensive, especially for a pair of them, but I doubt I'll need to buy more oven mitts any time soon. Happy cooking!
3 of 3 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »The mitt keeps very cool and does not heat up like other mits. Is more flexable than sillicon gloves. I wish it came in colors, but the function & flexability cannot be beat in a single mitt.
3 of 3 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »Well worth the wait! These mitts fit well, are the perfect length and are thin enough for excellent control when handling hot items.
3 of 3 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »Very good at keeping your hands cool but not as flexible as I would like. This makes grasping handles awkward. I am hoping that as I use them they will become less stiff.
3 of 3 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »So far so good. Excellent on heat shieild protection. Like the fact that it is fireproof. Picked up cast iron pans & carried stock pots, no heat transfer, comfortable.
The only complaint, took a long time to receive after ordering, kept being sold out.
A mit that works
Tried many mits - this seems to work great.
