Nice set with one exception
This is a good set with the exception of the stock pot which could not be recognized by my induction stove top. I returned the pot and waited 7 weeks for the replacement and the pasta insert I ordered at the same time as this set does not form a good fit with the stock pot as it is now too small around and does not rest on the lip of the stock pot. All other pieces in this set are of the quality I expect with Calaphon.

While I can't rate the performance of this product, as the pieces are still nestled safely inside their box, I can share why we purchased them. We bought the set for our son who is preparing to get his first place. I have owned my own 13 piece set of Calphalon tri-ply for a number of years. The pieces are beautiful. Shiny, sleek, with comfortably designed handles and attractive lines. The all stainless interior will never peel like cheap Teflon pans. The beautifully polished exterior has never scratched, despite the rigors I've put it through. Once you learn how to find the perfect harmony of temperature between your stove and these wonderful pans, you'll never stick. Eggs scramble perfectly with not a bit of residue sticking. Meats braise beautifully. I love the riveted handles. I never have to worry about a handle that wiggles loose. The heavy pots warm up slowly and do not scorch your food. If it burns, it's your fault. I love the aluminum clad layer, while it helps prevent burning, it also keeps your food warm if it must be held for a bit. The tempered glass lids are durable, I've dropped them, never breaking the glass or denting the stainless ring. This is the real deal, people. No cheap flimsy metal here. I like that I can throw it in the oven, but tend to forget that the handles hold heat for a long time. The only downfall I've seen, but it is my fault I've forgotten it's hot. On the stove, the handles are never too hot to touch. Did I mention that they are dishwasher safe? They come out looking new, wash after wash. My son wanted to buy pots for his first home and asked what to buy. He studied reviews of various products, but chose Calphalon because he knew exactly what he'd be getting. In a day where every manufacturer seems to be cutting corners to save money, I'm excited to see that's not true with Calphalon. The product has the same quality that drew ME to Calphalon years ago. The lines are a little softer, a little more curvy and if I dare, sensual. They are a work of art. Very attractive to the eye while still possessing the strength and durability I want to rely on. It's sort of like a fine sport car, all those sleek lines, while possessing everything you need under the hood. You just know its gonna be an incredible ride. Would I buy Calphalon again? Absolutely. Will I need to? Never. Well, that may be a lie, my daughter will be moving out one day as well. It's nice to know that they're there for me with a lifetime warranty if I ever need them. I know I won't. Calphalon is built for a lifetime.

I'm a huge cook, but my husband (bless his heart) has been buying me cheap cookware for ages- with the completion of our kitchen remodel he surprised me with getting to pick out a set for myself- I'm in love with these! As long as you know how to cook with stainless (or read the literature it comes with) NOTHING sticks- and I mean nothing- I burned a cheese sauce to bits the other night and not a bit of that cheese stuck! Will never own anything but calphalon again!

This is my first set of quality stainless steel cookware and I was a little intimidated by some of the other reviews out there about food sticking and the difficulty in cleaning it. I've been cooking on these pans for two weeks now and have had no such issues. I preheat the frying and saut'e pans over a medium/low before adding the oil or butter. Stay away from aerosol cooking sprays because they create a film that is hard to clean off. I have made both over-easy and scrambled eggs without any problems. There are several how-to videos on the internet that a new user will find helpful. I have not had any issues with clean-up either. I just let the pans cool and then hand wash in hot soapy water. I did use "Barkeepers Friend" once when I had a little discoloration in my small sauce pan and that polished it up like new. I'm looking forward to enjoying this cookware for many years to come.

We like this set so much that we have literally either thrown away or given away all other pots and pans. We bought a new stove at the same time we purchased these and it has been a breeze adjusting the temperature to the pans to achieve the desired result. The variety of sizes ensures that there is always a pan for the desired dish. These pans retain their heat so it can go from stove top to table and look good doing it. The glass lids are also a great asset since you can see how the meal is doing without having to lift the lid.
