  • MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS

  • A product built for a lifetime of use.

While I can't rate the performance of this product, as the pieces are still nestled safely inside their box, I can share why we purchased them. We bought the set for our son who is preparing to get his first place. I have owned my own 13 piece set of Calphalon tri-ply for a number of years. The pieces are beautiful. Shiny, sleek, with comfortably designed handles and attractive lines. The all stainless interior will never peel like cheap Teflon pans. The beautifully polished exterior has never scratched, despite the rigors I've put it through. Once you learn how to find the perfect harmony of temperature between your stove and these wonderful pans, you'll never stick. Eggs scramble perfectly with not a bit of residue sticking. Meats braise beautifully. I love the riveted handles. I never have to worry about a handle that wiggles loose. The heavy pots warm up slowly and do not scorch your food. If it burns, it's your fault. I love the aluminum clad layer, while it helps prevent burning, it also keeps your food warm if it must be held for a bit. The tempered glass lids are durable, I've dropped them, never breaking the glass or denting the stainless ring. This is the real deal, people. No cheap flimsy metal here. I like that I can throw it in the oven, but tend to forget that the handles hold heat for a long time. The only downfall I've seen, but it is my fault I've forgotten it's hot. On the stove, the handles are never too hot to touch. Did I mention that they are dishwasher safe? They come out looking new, wash after wash. My son wanted to buy pots for his first home and asked what to buy. He studied reviews of various products, but chose Calphalon because he knew exactly what he'd be getting. In a day where every manufacturer seems to be cutting corners to save money, I'm excited to see that's not true with Calphalon. The product has the same quality that drew ME to Calphalon years ago. The lines are a little softer, a little more curvy and if I dare, sensual. They are a work of art. Very attractive to the eye while still possessing the strength and durability I want to rely on. It's sort of like a fine sport car, all those sleek lines, while possessing everything you need under the hood. You just know its gonna be an incredible ride. Would I buy Calphalon again? Absolutely. Will I need to? Never. Well, that may be a lie, my daughter will be moving out one day as well. It's nice to know that they're there for me with a lifetime warranty if I ever need them. I know I won't. Calphalon is built for a lifetime.

    I recommend this product.

  • Great set, useful sizes

We bought this set as a joint Christmas present after using one of the sauce pans purchased earlier as “open stock” from a local department store. My wife And I are enthusiastic chefs who appreciate the value of good kitchen tools. We both prefer Caphelon over All-Clad because of the ergonomics of the handle design. Kitchen-Aid also meets our criteria for comfortable handle design.
    Pros:
    Superior construction
    Fast even heating
    Ergonomically comfortable handles
    Glass lids provide easy monitoring
    Attractive design
    Cons:
Fry pans did not come with their own lids

    I recommend this product.

  • Nice set of cookware

I enjoy this stainless steel set. I've always cooked with good quality cookware, although they have always been "non-stick". I wanted to get away from the non-stick surface, so I researched a variety of stainless steel. The manufacturing was of utmost important to me (layers of steel with copper or aluminum, rivets on the handles...). In addition, I wanted clear lids. I am very pleased with this set. My only issue is getting accustomed to beginning the cooking process with a lower heat then I've been used to in the past, especially if I saute or fry rice or potatoes. They stick if I go too hot at the beginning of cooking.

    I recommend this product.

  • Quality cookware

We recently decided to buy an induction range/oven. Since this requires magnetic cookware we had to replace much of our cookware. This set is awesome! It looks fantastic hanging on our lighted pot rack and works great on the new stove!

  • Bought for my son. He loves it

Son has been using this set and absolutely loves it.. If I didn't already have so much cookware, I may have bought it for myself. The pots are great sizes and the frying pans are useful. An excellent value. It isn't "non-stick", but that can often be a good thing when cooking. I've never had a problem cleaning stainless steel.

  • Nice set with one exception

This is a good set with the exception of the stock pot which could not be recognized by my induction stove top. I returned the pot and waited 7 weeks for the replacement and the pasta insert I ordered at the same time as this set does not form a good fit with the stock pot as it is now too small around and does not rest on the lip of the stock pot. All other pieces in this set are of the quality I expect with Calaphon.

  • My last set of cookware

I'm a huge cook, but my husband (bless his heart) has been buying me cheap cookware for ages- with the completion of our kitchen remodel he surprised me with getting to pick out a set for myself- I'm in love with these! As long as you know how to cook with stainless (or read the literature it comes with) NOTHING sticks- and I mean nothing- I burned a cheese sauce to bits the other night and not a bit of that cheese stuck! Will never own anything but calphalon again!

  • Don't let stainless cookware scare you off...

This is my first set of quality stainless steel cookware and I was a little intimidated by some of the other reviews out there about food sticking and the difficulty in cleaning it. I've been cooking on these pans for two weeks now and have had no such issues. I preheat the frying and saut'e pans over a medium/low before adding the oil or butter. Stay away from aerosol cooking sprays because they create a film that is hard to clean off. I have made both over-easy and scrambled eggs without any problems. There are several how-to videos on the internet that a new user will find helpful. I have not had any issues with clean-up either. I just let the pans cool and then hand wash in hot soapy water. I did use "Barkeepers Friend" once when I had a little discoloration in my small sauce pan and that polished it up like new. I'm looking forward to enjoying this cookware for many years to come.

  • Awesome set - even better value

We like this set so much that we have literally either thrown away or given away all other pots and pans. We bought a new stove at the same time we purchased these and it has been a breeze adjusting the temperature to the pans to achieve the desired result. The variety of sizes ensures that there is always a pan for the desired dish. These pans retain their heat so it can go from stove top to table and look good doing it. The glass lids are also a great asset since you can see how the meal is doing without having to lift the lid.

  • Well, I really only wanted to get a new stock pot. But after months of reading review after review (calphalon vs. all-clad, etc.), I decided on getting all new pans from Calphalon. I went to their website and got 25% off my purchase as well as free utensils AND a free searing pan! This was a huge purchase for me and every little bit helps. When it arrived in it's huge box I was thrilled and scared. Maybe I shouldn't have spent so much money on pots and pans. I started removing the items, and I thought it would never end! It went on and on. There was a lot packed into that box. I was so excited! The pans are VERY nice and heavy and shiny. I washed everything like I was told and put them away (with the cardbd. thingies between each pan so they wouldn't get scratched). Now, I didn't want to use them. I was scared. They were so nice! There are special instructions to read before cooking with these pans. All of sudden I'm having a panic attack. I didn't want to cook anything. In the beginning, I would just grab my old pans and say oh just use these this time. I was so nervous to use them for the first time. Maybe I should return them. I'm not worthy of such beautiful pans. They scare me. What if I cook 'wrong' in them? Then a while later another box came (I forgot about these) and here were my free utensils and container to put them in, AND, lo and behold, another free pan and cover! OMG can it get any better than this? Now I REALLY felt like a got a great deal! Oof, just bite the bullet, and use them now! So I have. They have been great. Keep in mind they are a bit heavier. I heeded Calphalon's instruction on cooking with them. Cook at med. now instead with med-hi. Warm up the pan first if frying, etc. They clean up pretty well (as well as my old ones), but I did buy Bar Keepers Friends to keep the bottoms looking shiny. I hand wash and dry immediately so no spots. I'm still obsessed with keeping them shiny and beautiful (I'm sure this too will pass after awhile...maybe). I can only compare these to what I had and feel I made a worthy purchase. These should last a very, very long time. Now I have a stock pot that doesn't wobble while water is heating up.

    I recommend this product.

  • Disappointed - Made In China

I was disappointed that the product was made in China. Other Calphalon products that I own (hard anodized aluminum) are made in the USA. I purchased the Stainless set after looking at the Made In USA - Toledo, Ohio on my aluminum set. I am considering returning the Stainless cookware. If I had known that the Stainless is Made In China I would never have purchased the product. I will make sure that everyone that I can contact knows that this product is Made In China.

  • wonderful gift

I have this set and have had it for years. It's fantastic. I bought the new set for my sister for Christmas and she absolutely loves it! This brand is expensive, but you get what you pay for! It's worth every penny. I have been buying pieces for the childcare I own too because you just can't hurt this set and it cleans so well. I have been told I make the best fudge on the planet, and I think it's more the great pot than my fudge making ability.

  • Nice cookware, but not without flaws

I have owned the Calphalon Copper Tri-Ply cookware for 6 years, and love how they cook and held up over the years. However, I got tired of keeping the copper clean so I decided to move to stainless cookware. I decided to get two All Clad Copper Core pans for the largest (and most used) size and fill the rest out with this Calphalon SS Tri-Ply set. Neither All Clad set perfectly flat on my glasstop stove, which was extremely dissappointing given their rep and cost. So at that point I was hoping to return them when this Calphalon set arrives, but when it does I find the two largest pans (12" fry and 3qt sauce) are even less flat than the All Clads!! My old Calphalon Copper Tri-Plys were dead flat. But I've already given them away :( Color me disappointed two major manufacturers. I have not used the pans so I'm hoping despite the flatness they will perform well, as my Calphalon Copper Tri-Ply set was so good and I don't want to take a step down.

  • Wow!

First, we have a gas stove and was surprised how the handles remained cool. We fried up some potstickers and none of them stuck to the bottom of the pan! The only negative is that the glass lids do get pretty hot. After using the same set of pans for 15+ years, we are so glad we purchased these pans!
