I was kinda disappointed with this product. Took me about 30 mins to slice one potato as I had to keep stopping to clean the mechanism and couldnt get a flow with the slicer. Half the time nothing would even come thru on the other side and I had to keep readjusting, cutting the potato down on the sides, and holding it at different angles just to get the mandolin to slice a piece off. Wont be using this much....far easier to slice things with a knife so no homemade potato chips for me.

    very narrow slicer

The food holder has 1/4 inch prongs to hold food, tempting you to hold food with your bare hands. The cutting area is too narrow for a standard onion. I will probably return it.

I would recommend this for anyone who is looking to spend less and get more. I have used this already on citrus, root veggies, and zucchini. It adjusts well, is easy to store, and is incredibly sharp.

Flimsy, dull, and make vegetables ugly

It works okay for potatoes and vegetables that are potato-ish (like celery root or turnip). But it doesn't cut evenly because the clear plastic on one side isn't supported so it gets pushed down making wedge cuts. It made a mess out of some mushrooms as the blade wouldn't cut through them. I've had some success with cucumbers but I'm not as concerned about cucumbers because I'm not cooking them. And uneven cucumber slice is maybe not aesthetically pleasing, but eh.

I think it would be worth it to spend a little more and buy one that is a little easier to control the slices. It's kind of hard to hold and cut
