Pretty spendy but works very well, I recomend to people who don't care about the price and want a quality product that does what it says it will do.

Great Stone

This stone has become a staple in my household. I just leave it in the bottom for everything. I just clean it with a steel wool scraper every few days. Makes bread and pizza SOOO crispy and makes pies cook much faster if you set them directly on a hot stone. I'm considering a full stone oven insert.

I first ordered ti in early December for a gift. It was sent to the wrong person and wrong state. The second was re-ordered but they backordered it for several weeks. When tth second one arrived it was split diagonally across the middle. They had me thrw it out and sent me another one. It was also cracked. After that I didn't ask for another of the that model but instead ordered another brand that they Stocked. OLD STONE OVEN. It arrived fine and is baking like it should. Perfect browining and baking. Just have to pre-heat a little longer. I would but this brand again.

The edge is a little thick and doesn't slide under the pizza as easily as a thinner one but it's not bad. It would just be nice if it was thinner. Overall I am really enjoying using it and it has made my pizza making better and easier. Anyone who makes pizza should absolutely have one of these!

Good stone for a great price

by Erin, SC

I have had a pizza stone for years, but about 6 weeks ago, I had a pizza in the oven, and suddenly I heard a loud CRACK! Luckily the pizza survived, but the stone had cracked almost in half. I set about finding a new one right away, and Cooking.com had the best price by far. The stone arrived on time, and I am pleased with the purchase. It is much heavier than my old stone, so it is a bit more difficult to take in and out of the oven, but I have used it a few times now and I am very pleased with the results.

New stone users should read the instructions (I didn't the first time around), and remember not to use soap or detergent of any kind on the stone. Just rinse it with water or your next pizza will taste like cleaning product. This I learned the hard way. Bleech. (Note: this is true of all pizza stones, not just the one I bought on cooking.com--I washed the old one with soap)

I would recommend this stone to others, and I am very happy with my purchase.

Good stone

I really lke the size of this stone. It allows me to back Sicilian style pizza as well as Italian bread. The one thing I really don't care for are the bump outs underneath that are supposed to go between the spaces of your oven rack. All ovens are not created equal and therefore my stone sits a bit unlevel.

My first pzza stone

by Dennis, OR
November 2, 2008

I think this stone is great! I have never had one before, but am totally pleased with this one! It is very large in size, and feels very sturdy. It cooks pizza wonderfully! I highly recommend using corn meal on the stone before placing your pizza on it so it won't stick to the stone, but for the price you cannot beat this stone! I searched around, and this was the best deal I could find.

Anyway, I highly recommend this if you are on a budget like me, it cooks pizza fantastic!

The photograph was misleading. It looks like this is a flat stone but it is not. It had for want of a better word "legs" on the under side. That made for a very bulky and frankly heavy item to lift. Storage would have been a problem too. I certainly like the idea of the baking abilities of the pizza stone but I will not be doing it with this one. Sorry!

While the stone in not as thick as I would like (it sits on feet), it has worked well so far. I have had it for a little more than a month (always in oven) and it has withstood frequent use (e.g. pizza, french bread baking, etc).
The stone came well packaged, and I would have been surprised if it had been broken.

Better Bread Baking

by Joseph, OR
February 2, 2010

We have baked bread for 50 years, but never on a stone. We have never had bread so good since using the baking stone. It's wonderful. It came packaged with great care. Would urge serious bread bakers to buy now.

Great for pizza

by Joycelyn, TX
February 3, 2011

I love making my own food and especially pizza. However, the crust usually didn't come out the way I wanted it. I thought about a pizza stone for a long time and finally gave in. I am so glad I did. I've only made one pizza so far and I was amazed at the difference in the crust. It cooked very quickly, was brown in the bottom and top and perfect on the inside. It looked like a pizza should look. After researching pizza stones and paddles this was the best price. Excellent product.

great stone

by Bruce, LA
October 15, 2011

I keep this stone in my oven all the time. great even cooking surface. Large enough for a good family size pie. Pizza, calzones, strombolis all turn out great. Some of the reviews talk about the pizza sticking to the stone. Most likely people were making the pizza on a cold stone and then putting the stone and pizza in the oven. Stones are not made for that. the stone need to be heated to 400 degrees in the oven and the the pizza needs to be placed on the stone using a pizza peel. Overall, a great product for the serious pizza maker. But even cheap frozen pizzas taste great on it. also great for making crispy hot subs like meatball parm...ect...

The stone is great but would be much better if it had handles. I use to have one with handles and it worked really well when I went to take it out of the oven.

I purchased this stone for my husband for Chistmas along with the Hearthkit Oven by the same company. It's the perfect complement to the oven because it allows you to make 2 large pizzas at one time in the oven. It's nice and thick (our previous stone broke in half from the heat because it was so thin.) We love it!

I love my new pizza stone. So far, its the best I've ever had, so I hope it lasts longer than others I've had. It is thicker, and seems much more substantial, and the bigger size seems to distribute the heat much more evenly than thinner stones.
