  • Just what I was looking for

I have been baking my own bread in a bread machine for a few years. I wanted to get into more of the "crusty" breads. I found a new cook book that fit my needs to a "t". The only item I needed was a stone and board. I searched several sites and this site had the best deal. The stone has a life time warranty. I could not be happier with this product.

    I recommend this product.

  • This is the best thing I've bought for my kitchen. I'd even rate it higher than my All-Clad pans and Wusthof knives. Reason being that there is no alternative to a baking stone that I know of for the average small home kitchen.

You have to preheat the oven and stone for 45 minutes to an hour, then bake the pizza for 10-13 minutes directly on top of the stone and voila!! The pizza comes out crisp just like your favorite pizzeria does it.

This stone is high quality-- about 3/4" thick and pretty heavy.

It'll get stained by burned cheese, but I've noticed no funny taste in any of my pizzas from those stains.

Look for the combo of this stone and the pizza peel and save a few $$.

    Highly recommended.

  • Heavy Weight Pizza Stone

This is not a pizza stone you are likely to find in a nearby store. Its 13 pounds keeps it stable in the oven. I use if for pizza, flat breads, pita and for my dense version of German Stollen.
If you only want to heat up a frozen pizza, I'd suggest a much lighter stone. If you are going to do some serious baking, this is the right stone.

    I recommend this product.

  • great stone

I keep this stone in my oven all the time. great even cooking surface. Large enough for a good family size pie. Pizza, calzones, strombolis all turn out great. Some of the reviews talk about the pizza sticking to the stone. Most likely people were making the pizza on a cold stone and then putting the stone and pizza in the oven. Stones are not made for that. the stone need to be heated to 400 degrees in the oven and the the pizza needs to be placed on the stone using a pizza peel. Overall, a great product for the serious pizza maker. But even cheap frozen pizzas taste great on it. also great for making crispy hot subs like meatball parm...ect...

    I recommend this product.

  • Baking Stone Great; Peel Unnecessary

I keep the baking stone in the oven, where it is always available to make my pizza crusts nice and crisp. Though I tried, it is impossible to keep the stone clean; it does get discolored with normal use. I found it hard to use the peel at first. Since I make only small (8" or less) pizzas, I just use a pancake flipper and a plate to move my pizzas on and off the stone.

    I recommend this product.

  • Quality pizza stone, Decent pizza peel.

The stone is great. Thick and ceramic. It should last a very long time. I still need to work on my shoveling of the pizza onto the heated stone though. If you get cheese in between the stone and the bottom of your pizza, it will stick. Make sure to practice a little before you start cooking with it. I ruined my first pizza due to this (it came off somewhat torn up) but it still tasted good. The stone really helps the crust cook consistently. The peel needed to be sanded and oiled. It is made of soft maple, I think, and is easily scored. It also warped a bit but I don't think there's much helping this unless you get a hard maple peel that is thick and well oiled. I suppose this is what you'd expect for the price. All around decent and it gets the job done.

    I recommend this product.

  • Stone is to ruff

This pizza stone is a good size but the surface is very ruff the pizza dough sticks to the ruff surface. I use corn meal which help some what. but the corn meal burns at high temp. If I had another choice I would not choose this one.

  • Took the plunge

Have been thinking about trying a pizza stone for years, but wasn't sure I wanted to spend the $$ on something I had never tried. This combo pack seemed a good deal and worth the try after reading other reviews. Have only baked one pizza, and it came out ok. Will know more when I cook more.

If it can be put on the stone, it's on it. You won't believe the difference in the crust...divine. Run, don't walk and order this NOW.

  • Practice Makes Perfect

It's a good peel, but I have no other experience with them at all. The first time I tried to slide my pizza off the peel onto the stone it wouldn't budge....so I flung it a little harder and it landed off the back side of the stone...there is a learning curve using it to put a raw pizza in the oven. I use a pizza pan until my pizza is slightly cooked then the pan slides out easily and the stone works its magic...Practice!

    I recommend this product.
