Customer Reviews

Beautiful pizza stone!

It's great quality, comes with care instructions and a few recipes, which was a nice surprise. The peel that comes with it is a nice perk, but it's not great quality, needed some serious oiling and care when it arrived. Also, I bought it because I got a good discount, don't know if I would spend the full price for this item.

Warm & Toasty

I really like this baking/pizza stone, it's just the right size and cooks the pizza in quick order, plus when you're done baking on those cool days and evenings, you can leave the oven door open a crack after you turn it off, and it will keep your kitchen all warm and toasty for hours

This product is one of the best pizza stones that I have seen. I purchased two of them for my gas oven. The price is very good. When I looked at similar products in my area I found that the quality of the ones in the local retail stores was very poor compared to this pizza stone. Also, at the time that I purchased this product from Cooking.com, it was "bundled" with pizza peels, which are a perfect size for sliding the pizza onto the stone. I would recommend this product to anyone who is a serious pizza fanatic. I have used it to bake artisan bread too, and it rivals the crust and texture of the store bought artisan breads!

I used it once, and when I took it out of the cabinet to use it the second time a few days later, it had warped badly, making it unusable.

Works well. The only problem is that it is difficult to clean. And warps when drying but after completely dry is usually OK.

Need to be very careful not too get any cheese or sauce on the stone or it can burn and be very difficult to clean.

Baking/Pizza stone

by Michael, CA
February 10, 2007

I tried the stone for Pizza and was very disappointed. The Pizza did not slide easily (as a matter of fact it stuck and oozed )onto the marble. Even lots of corn meal did not help the pizza slide on or off the marble.

The marble stained on first use and would not clean again.

Maybe I just need to practice more with the item.

We purchased three of these for our grown children for Christmas. The peels came with the stones. I had purchased one of these a couple of years ago for my husband and we have used it so much for making homemade pizza and for cooking homemade bread that we thought our children and grandchildren would love having these also.

Just As Promised

by Jean, CA

This is my first baking stone and it works great. The larger size is useful for two loaves of bread yet it fits in my standard size oven just perfect. It's heavy, without a lip or rim that could get awkward sliding dough on. Just as the Cooks Illustrated folks said, it is a fine product that I expect to use for years to come.

HOMEMADE PIZZA

by LINDA, FL

We love Pizza but for some reason couldn't find any here that we liked.
So my husband and I decided we would have to make our own. The stone we purchased works great. It takes a while to get hot but that's to be expected. We are very happy with it.

Stoned

Works as advertised. Makes a nice crust on pizza and bread. Had added character to the things I've used it on. I keep it in my oven all the time. If something happened to it I would buy another one just like it. Very good stone.
