Bring the strength of titanium engineering to life in your kitchen with this Schmidt Brothers 15-pc. Titan Cutlery Set with Block and Stone. This set was voted one of Oprah Winfrey's favorite things in 2012, and after using the knives in the set, you'll quickly see why. These knives are part of the Titan 22 knife series, and are crafted with a pure titanium finish — the same strong material that is used in the construction of aircraft engines and tennis racquets. The blades themselves are made from premium high-carbon German-engineered stainless steel for lasting durability and performance. The curved design of this handle is so innovative that Schmidt Brothers patented it, and its design allows for easy cutting with decreased hand fatigue, even when you're undertaking extensive cutting tasks. The curve adds to the control and precision that you have over each knife, so you achieve the best results with every use. The handles are enhanced by soft rubber that allows for the better grip and control. To keep the knives honed to perfection, a sharpening stone is included. The set also comes with a teak block that has been magnetized for ease of use. With this set, you get a bread knife, chef's knife, slicer knife, slim santoku knife, boning knife, tomato knife and six steak knives.

  • Voted one of Oprah Winfrey's favorite things in 2012

  • Good...but not great

After a lengthy search for the perfect cutlery set, I was very excited when I spotted the Schmidt Bros. Titan. Ergonomic handle with a great heel curve against which to rest your finger; a non-slip soft grip for wet hands; a thin, lightweight, balanced blade….what’s not to love! So why am I only ‘in like’? Well, the grips are okay but less finished than on (very inexpensive) OXO professional knives; mold dimples and space around the edges make them seem somewhat poorly crafted and prone to food particle collection. The pommel is not part of the tang; rather, it’s a cheap cap (which, on a few of my new knives, was badly scratched). The holes bored into the block’s acrylic shield were double-drilled so that the edges extended beyond the screws, compromising both looks and screw function. And the blades arrived functionally sharp - but duller than I prefer for my culinary work (though, to be fair, I haven’t had an opportunity to determine if the accompanying sharpener will address that deficiency). Don’t get me wrong, these knives are comfortable and the design shows promise – but the brothers Schmidt have to work on quality control before their name will become a kitchen staple.

    I recommend this product.
