Excellent product, good value. cleanded up easily. just made a 18# (brined with salt and sugar) turkey, injected with wine as well, and was a great hit at our last dinner party!

I believe this roasting pan (or one very similar) with the tall side handles was the one recomended on "America's Test Kitchen" and certainly now endorsed by a fairly experienced home chef, and maker of some 30 turkeys in the past.

A great roasting pan for the money

by C. Milton, IA
March 3, 2007

This is a very good roasting pan for the home cook. It fits nicely in a smaller oven and is easy to manipulate. I found that it had even heat and was heavy enough to use without the rack. The rack is very nice but would be more convenient if it were collapsible, but is ok. I like the finish. I recommend hand washing rather using dishwasher to prolong the life of the pan. At this price it is an excellent purchase.

Used it to roast my Thanksgiving turkey. Not only was it excellent for roasting but it was wonderful for making the gravy in the pan. Excellent weight and quality. Great price.

Roasting pan did an excellent job -- I only used it once so far, it it worked fine. Plenty of room, I like the over-sized handles, and I especially lke the way the rack lifts out.

Great quality

I bought this pan as a gift for my parents. They have yet to use it, but based on the quality by sight and feel, it should be a great addition to their kitchen. The price is very reasonable especially since it comes with the rack.

16x13x4-in. Nonstick Roasting Pan with Rack by Calphalon

With two qualifications, I can recommend this product.

The first qualification is that if roasting a large bird - over 20 lbs - this roasting pan won't be large enough. I dissected my turkey into the breast/wings/back half and the back/legs half. I removed the first two wing joints and added them to the stock pan. Jamming both roasting pans into the oven to roast at the same time doesn't work because both won't fit though I have a large duel-fuel 6-burner+griddle stove with large oven and small warming oven.

The second qualification is that this pan is NOT exactly non-stick. I didn't want a 'coated pan, so this one is OK with me, but folks should know it takes a little extra care. After roasting my first turkey I opted to soak mine new pan well, scrape it, lightly scrub it with dish detergent and a green scrubby, and put into dishwasher, which is ok according to the directions. The result didn't please me because white residual stains told me that the turkey blood that was the first liquid to contact the hot pan was not gone, even with the extra scrubbing. However, it came off when I attacked it with steel wool.

But those issues aside, the pan does a fabulous job because its core material is thin, heats up fast, browns wonderfully, and the pan's performance as terrific as bloggers said, based on the C.I. recommendation they also mentioned.

I did not make gravy because we tasted the cooked meat and decided that it was so succulent, moist, and flavorfull from its true-roasting (instead of the steaming that I have done in all my life using my 'turkey roaster') that we didn't need gravy. I've never had such a delicious bird and I'll try roasting chicken next. I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

I would buy ithis pan again, and probably will purchase one for my friend for her birthday.

Excellent price, excellent service, excellent performance.

The first thing I used my new roasting pan for was a prime rib roast. It turned out perfectly. The pan was easy to handle and a breeze to clean. Of course I love all Calphalon products.

as an on sale item, but I have had some trouble with the surface getting a bit tainted. When I used it to boil water for LONGER foods, specifically crab legs, the no stick surface got stained. This is the anodized aluminum and should not have this happen. I will work it over w/ a colution of 'bar maide' cleaner soap and see what happens. The problem I'm having would not hurt the roaster's ability to roast a prime rib, turkey, ham or otherr foood item, It just is not 'eye' apealling.

I used this roaster for the first time Thanksgiving 2006. It was great for roasting the turkey; when it came time to take the turkey out of the oven and make the gravy, the rack made it very easy to get the turkey out of the pan and then use the pan on the stovetop to make the gravy. I highly recommend this product!

Great roasting pan!

by Brooke, MA
November 2, 2008

I bought this roasting pan for my sister for a housewarming gift. We have the exact same one at our house. We love Calphalon products & this pan is perfect for roasting a turkey. The handles on the pan and on the rack make it easy to maneuver the turkey around. (I haven't used it to roast anything else.) The pan works great for making gravy. It's heavy duty and even if you use a wire wisk for the gravy the pan hasn't scratched at all... I've had mine for about 8 years. It's been great.

Roasting pan

by Patricia, NJ
November 20, 2006

I found this roasting pan no better or worse then the one I presently have, which was free from Linens & Things five years ago. I thought the pan would have been heavier and a better non-stick surface. For the price, I was not impressed and returned the item, which wound up costing me additional $$$ for mailing. Some times I think its best to be able to touch/feel items so you know exactly what you're getting. Patti

I have been searching for a good roasting pan for a long time. I've had various kinds but they just didn't last. This pan has a great feel to it without being too heavy. It is large enough for a big turkey, but I can also put a small roast in it. Clean up is easy too.

I bought this for my dad who LOVES the commercial Caphalon pots and pans! This set is absolutely great for the price. The pan is large and the rack insert is enamel coated. This set should last more than a lifetime!

This is a great roasting pan and I find it is easier to keep clean than the stainless steel.. It's great for deglazing to make sauces. It's nice and big and I especially like the depth as well.

I purchased this pan to roast veggies such as potatoes, parsnips, butternut squash or eggplant & pepper combination. Roasted at 415 degrees with sufficient oil, the veggies stuck more than I thought they would. However, my overall impression was good.

Great quality but pricey

I like the heavy quality of the metal and the smooth bottom works well for making gravy. The rack is also sturdy and the handles positioned well for lifting a piece of meat. I have no complaints about the design and quality, just not used to paying so much for one pan.

We ordered it for our turkey for Thanksgiving and it turned out amazing. It also cleans up easily! It looks heavier than it is, but the light weight helps with not breaking your back when lifting it with a turkey in it. lol!
