I tend to use my bread machines 3-4 times a week(or more) and I have worn out several over the years. So far this seems to be one of the best that I have owned in terms of its features and versatility. Love being able to preset and time the Dough cycle since I frequently let the machine do the mixing and then I take out the dough and finish it myself--this is the first machine that has had this feature. Will have to wait and see how long this machine holds up...

I'm very happy with this bread machine! I've used several of the bread cycles as well as the dough cycle and all have worked great.

Another reviewer mentioned that the kneading paddle is weak... I haven't noticed this problem. Although the pan is not dishwasher safe, I haven't had any problems with bread or dough sticking so the clean up is still a breeze! There isn't an on/off switch but I would unplug my machine anyway after each use so I don't find this to be a problem.

The recipe book this machine comes with isn't too great but it's not difficult to find a plentiful supply of bread machine recipes online so it's not really a big deal. All of the recipes I've used, I've found elsewhere.

With this bread machine you can decide what level of darkness you want your bread; this is great as I don't like crust that's too done! Also, the delay feature is wonderful!! Fresh baked, warm bread with breakfast or dinner... it just doesn't get any better!

Overall, great machine! :)

It gets the job done and it's a good value, but it has a few drawbacks prospective buyers should know about.

First, the kneeding paddle is very weak. It's designed to slip when it encounters too much resistance, so sometimes it only moves a quarter inch per second. You have to add extra water to some recipes to keep the dough soft enough for the machine to be able to mix and kneed it.

Second, it has no off switch. The control electronics are always on whenever it's plugged in. This makes it vunerable to power surges 24-7 unless you plug it in and unplug it constantly.

Third, you can't run the bread pan through the dishwasher. The manual explicitly says this will ruin the non-stick coating which will make it impossible to get the bread out in one piece. The idea of a bread machine is to reduce labor, so having to hand-wash the pan every time was an unpleasant surprise.

I have used 3 bread machines before this one, but this one is by far the best. Haven't had a single failure since using it. It is very nicely priced for the quality!

works fine. However, found that the recipe book was not as good as other mfgs. Found that the bread fell apart and discovered that they omitted dry powdered milk. Changed to different recipe and works fine

I am pleased with my Sunbeam bread machine. A few years ago I had another brand of bread machine and was disapointed after using it a few times. It was so much trouble to clean the basket and you were unable to detach the paddle which led to holes in the bread. My new machine is a snap to operate and clean and the paddle can be removed before baking so only a minute hole is seen. The controls are easy to see and operate.

I hit the wrong selection in the box for good value for the money. It should be yes and I can't modify it.

OVERALL THE BREAD MACHINE IS VERY NICE, BUT THERE ARE TWO THINGS I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH. 1) THE DIGITAL DISPLAY IS VERY HARD TO READ AND IT WOULD HELP IF IT HAD A BACK LIGHT. 2) THE BAKING CYCLE OF 55 MIN. IS TOO LONG AND MAKES THE BREAD CRUST DARK (EVEN IF SET ON LIGHT) AND HARD. THE BREAD ITSELF IS OVERCOOKED AND DRY. IF THE MACHINES IS STOPPED 20-25 MIN. BEFORE THE END OF THE COOKING CYCLE THE BREAD COMES OUT FINE. THIS IS THE SAME FOR BOTH BOXED MIXES FOR FROM STRATCH. TO BE FAIR, OTHER BREAD MACHINES HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM OF OVER COOKING.

Great Breadmaker

I was worried because the price was much cheaper than other brands but it works great. I have made a number of batches of bread- all successfully. The recipes in the book were ok if you measured carefully. You must spoon flour into the cup for measurement or there will be too much. I recommend getting the Better Homes & Gardens Breadmaking cookbook with it. No problems, very durable, not too noisy, easy to clean. Perfect.,

Breadmaker Best Buy!

by David, NY
November 26, 2006

This machine replaced an 11 year old Breadman machine. The tried a new Breadman but the cheap redesign of the machine was awful and I ended up returning it. This Sunbeam bread maker is great. Easy to get the bread pan in and out. And the price is less than half what I had paid for the comperable Breadman machine! A fantastic deal!

We've used it weekly for 10 months now and we're very satisfied. Considering the cost, if it broke tomorrow (not likely) we'd get another just like it.

It beats a Breadman

by Donald, CO
March 25, 2008

I have had two breadman machines in the past and the quality has nose-dived, but the prices haven't. I was looking for an alternative and found this machine at a great price. It is very easy to use, quiet, and makes a great loaf of bread with your favorite crust type. I would recommend this to anyone. One tip would be to use your own machine recipes, but follow the ingredient order that is layed out in the Sunbeam manual and you can't go wrong.

Enjoy your bread...my family does!

Good and inexpensive

This is my first bread machine. It is easy to use and I have not had a bad loaf yet. I had heard that the recipes that come with it are not very good, so I have been using other recipes.

The machine has no problem handling whole wheat loafs and loafs with nuts, raisins, etc.

Love It!

This was my first experience ever with a bread machine, and I'm happy that this is the machine I decided to "test my wings" with! Maybe some machines are intimidating with all the excess functions, but this one was a breeze to use. There was nothing confusing about it. Just follow the instructions given in the manual and you're good to go. I tried it out with the 1.5 lb. basic white bread recipe given in the manual, using the Basic setting. Like some others have said, the taste of the bread recipe given in the manual wasn't the greatest, but that's no reflection on the machine itself. My goal was to make sure the bread ends up with the right texture, and was completely baked at the end of the cycle. It did exactly what it's supposed to do, and now it's just a matter of looking for some tasty bread machine recipes. I have only tried the machine out once, but I know I will enjoy using it for many years to come! As far as the price, I think this was a great deal. Why pay more for a machine with functions you might never use. If you decide to buy this bread machine, you won't regret it!

I was sceptical but I love this breadmaker. I have used it 2-3 times a week since I purchased it and have had no problems. The dough cycle is great for pizza and the instruction booklet is helpful. I had read other comments that the recipe in the book were not great so I purchased "Betty Crocker's Best Bread Machine Cookbook" and all of the recipes I have tried in this breadmaker have turned out nicely. Very happy with this purchase and product.

Works fine

by Connie, TX
June 23, 2009

Before purchasing a bread machine, I did a lot of research. Figuring I wouldn't need or use all the bells and whistles a lot of the more pricey machines feature, I opted for the Sunbeam because it had generally good reviews for it's type and was reasonably priced. It's exactly what I paid for. I've now made three different loaves using three different recipes, and all worked fine. I haven't tried the dough or the Express Bake cycle yet.

My only objection is the noise and jerkiness of the machine on the countertop, but not being familiar with bread machines, this may be typical of all of them. I'm pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend to others.

With the average loaf of bread at $3.00 a loaf it will pay for itself in no time! I live out in the country and can't afford to go to town everytime I need a loaf of bread,so it saves me gas money too! I love it! It saves me time and money. It's so easy to use.I'll never do without one again!
