The Paula Deen 18-in. Signature Pantryware Rolling Pin has a distinctive tapered design. This taper, preferred by French and Italian chefs, gives fantastic control over the dough. Rather than simply pushing the dough in front of it, it's designed to sweep the dough to the sides, creating a more even surface without the flatter edges often seen with more regular rolling pins. It's also a favorite of patisserie chefs. It offers better control, making it perfect for pasta doughs and other doughs where evenness is an absolute requirement. Try using it for rolling out sugar cookies for a fabulously sweet and crunchy treat, or if you need to create an ultrathin tuille, it's ideal. Control is easy: when you need pressure, simply place your hands nearer the middle, and the tapering will help slide the dough out of the way. When you want complete control, move your hands to the edges. It's constructed of beautiful and durable acacia wood, and those who are concerned about protecting the environment will appreciate that acacia wood is a sustainable material. As an added bonus, acacia wood is water resistant, so the rolling pin will stay in great shape even after multiple washings. Hand wash it immediately after using to keep it at its best.
Tapered ends give you superior control as you roll your dough
One-piece design allows the rolling pin to last for years
Constructed from acacia wood, a sustainable material
Rolling pin easily pivots so that you can roll dough into a round shape
If you love to bake you must have the best of tools to accomplish the best of finished products and this Paula Deen Rooling Pin is excellent. (Great for keeping the "old man" in line also! Wink ! Wink!)
Cooks sometimes don't realize that you need different rolling pins for different applications. There's nothing like a good wooden rolling pin for biscuits or dumplings. In addition to having good "action" and balance, this pin is simply beautiful to look at. Beautiful, functional tools enhance the cooking experience for the cook. This one is worth every cent of the purchase price.
I purchase this new rolling pin not only for the cost but for the design as well. I still use my older rolling pin but I found the new model is much easier to handle while baking. It is smooth and easy to maneuver, which I like to lot
