I ordered one for myself and was so impressed with the even cooking all across the cooking surface that I got one for my mother-in-law who taught me to cook for a big family and farm hands.

I go through one or two 9X 13 electric skillets per year some just don't cook properly and others stain and scratch because of the surface coating that I worry about contanmination of food. They also brown on top of the element and not evenly.

also the cooking connection with cord is a lot more heavy duty with this one as others tend to crack and short out and I have had to replace cords on others before skillet.
I realize that I purchased this product on sale and really would like to get another shortly as I use two of them at a time to prepare a lot of my meals for workers and family.
thank you for this product.

Sturdy construction, high quality materials. Good control over temperature. Easy cleanup. It's made in China (but then, isn't everything?).

I am really enjoying my new skillet. Not only does it
work extremely well, clean up very easily, it looks great in my kitchen. I can't wait to make pancakes for visiting family this weekend to show it off.

This is a great pan. Heats fast and even, The only thing I would change is the cord is too short.

The best electric skillet in 40 years.

by Elaine, MI
October 13, 2007

I had gone through four electric skillets in 40 years of marriage. The first three had their heating elements burn out. The fourth one (GE brand, made in China, bought at Walmart) had a non-functioning thermostat and cooked everything at 400 degrees F. no matter where I set it. All of the first four developed burn marks above the heating elements because they didn't heat the bottom of the skillet evenly. (The oval burn mark is where the food eventually sticks when the non-stick coating wears off).

The Cuisinart skillet has none of the above faults. It heats evenly at the temperature where I set it. I can actually follow recipes using the recommended temperature, which is something I could never do with the earlier skillets. I can see how my dinner is progressing without lifting the lid and losing all of the steam. It is deeper than the other, unlamented skillets and I can actually cook more food in it, e.g. an entire dinner for four, or a week's worth of ratatouille.

Nowadays, you can pay up to $300 for an electric skillet, but why would you do that if you can get the perfect skillet at a third of the price?

A pleasure to cook with

by Jonathan, NV
May 4, 2009

I have had this skillet for almost two years now, and have never regretted the purchase for a moment. It heats up quickly and evenly with absolutely no hot or cold spots, and recovers quickly when food is placed in the pan. I love the fact I have such a wide open area and large volume to cook in, and it is so easy to clean. And, thanks to a near cult-like obsession with keeping all things metalic away from it, it is still as clean and smooth as the day it was delivered. The only bad thing I can say about this skillet is that the lid does fog up easily, but that is no deturrent to using it. It is big enough to brown over three pounds of ground beef at once, or to make a double batch of my awesome sweet and sour pork, which is great since my family can't seem to get enough of it. It is one of my favorite items to use in the kitchen. If you cook for small crowds or make large batches of food, I highly recommend this skillet.

The Best Electric Skillet We've Ever Owned

by Mary, AR
August 3, 2010

My husband and I are in our early 60s and have owned numerous electric grills in the past. We bought the Cuisinart Electric Skillet to replace our GE electric skillet that wore out. Because of the cost of the Cuisinart I was reluctant to purchase it but now that we have it and use it at least 4 times a week, it was worth every penny we paid for it.

The lower priced electric skillets moved when we tried to remove food from it but the Cuisinart Electric Skillet weighs 15 pounds and does not move unless we intentionally move it.

Clean up is a breeze because nothing sticks to it; we just wipe it out with a damp cloth or paper towel.

Food cooks evenly and completely in the Cuisinart Electric Skillet and holds more than less expensive electric skillets that are the same dimensions. In our worn out electric skillet from a different manufacturer, we could only cook 4 chicken thighs/legs at one time but in the Cuisinart Electric Skillet, we cook 6 chicken thighs/legs at a time or 8 boneless, skinless chicken breasts.

We have cooked beef stew, boneless chicken breasts with diced portobello mushroom sauce, southern fried chicken, beef roasts in mushroom gravy, and much more in the Cuisinart Electric Skillet. Everything we cook in this skillet is cooked to perfection and to repeat myself, this skillet is worth every penny we paid for it. We love our Cuisinart Electric Skillet.

plug is difficult

by Jennifer, WA
September 5, 2007

The area where the cord plugs in to the skillet is not lined up correctly and it makes it very hard to attach the cord to the skillet. It goes, but you have to push really hard. This is very disappointing in light of how much we spent on this skillet. Once everything is attached, it works great though. Just not easy to assemble and disassemble.

Heavy Duty Use!

by Ann, ND
June 18, 2008

We had one that we replaced with this identical skillet because we liked it so much. The only problem is that the nonstick teflon wears off after 3-4 years of heavy use.

Excellent product. Only problem we have is size. It's overall size is larger than we would like. Don't know if it is available in a smaller size. Lesson learned: carefully read the copy

The electric skillet is very good and all that it is described in previous postings. However, I must say that Amazon.com did not have this in stock when I initially went on their website. I asked to be notified when the product became available. I never heard a word from Amazon.com. I just happened to be ordering other things on Amazon.com and saw the Cuisinart Nonstick Electric Skillet was in stock. The service from Amazon.com leaves a lot to be desired but isn't it funny how they never want to know how they performed. If you are in the market to buy an electric skillet, I recommend this one highly. If you want to know when a product is in stock on Amazon.com, don't hold your breath.

She Likes It!

by Eileen, MI
August 13, 2007

I bought this for my mother who loves to cook and does so every day. She reports plenty of room for griddling pancakes and sausage and eggs for a complete breakfast. She also reports the nonstick surface works well and cleans easily. She uses it for buffet service as well keeping foods warm for parties. Despite the great and even heat distribution it does not seem to heat the composite countertop below it. Overall she seems very pleased (

Great Skillet

by RUSTI, IA
November 13, 2007

I finally found an electric skillet that is large enough and cooks evenly. It only took me 30 years. This is a great buy. I've probably spent 2 times as much on cheaper products that did not work. I'd recommend this product to large and small families alike.

While I have not had time yet to use this skillet with a variety of recipes, I do like the size (not as overwhelmingly large as described by other reviewers) and the fact that it can be used on a buffet table. It seems to heat evenly (one of my criteria for purchasing), and the heavy lid keeps cooking juices in the pan. The temperature recommended by the accompanying cookbook for pancakes is not quite high enough for a golden brown product, so I raised it 25 degrees.

I was looking for a skillet that would have a large capacity, and I have been very pleased with this one. It heats evenly, and I have enjoyed the non-stick surface. I am happy that it allows me to cook a larger volume of food for my family.

The skillet works wonderfully well, but I did not realize how HUGE it is. The measurements were clearly stated, but it just didn't click with me. I will have to be cooking for a larger group than just myself to use it, so for regular use (for me) it isn't practical.

Nonstick Electric Skillet-by Cuisinart

by Christina, SC
December 1, 2011

My old teflon skillet from the 1960's finally bit the
dust. I searched, and read all the pro and con
comments on all the sites before I decided to purchase from Cooking.com. The skillet was
heavy, with rubber shod feet and didn't slide when
preparing food, it heated evenly over the whole
surface, it was easy to plug in and set temperature
and very easy to wash (dishwasher). It was big..
and just perfect for what I was looking for. Yes
I would buy it again and recommend to others.
