Convenient point-and-measure precision, the Infrared Gun gives cooks the assurance that the surface temperature will be read with pinpoint accuracy, without coming in contact with food. Perfect for multitude of cooking applications, it features a one-second response time that makes this ideal for measuring surface temperatures of food and checking temperatures of food being served or stored in the refigerator or freezer. Simply point the gun at the item to be measured, press the trier, and within a second the unit provides an accurate temperature reading. The backlit display measures 7/8" x1" making it easy to see. Because there is no contact with the surface of food being measured, the gun eliminates the potential of cross contamination.

For frying or deep frying this is the thermometer to use. No worries about probe depth or havint the thermometer fall into the oil or out of the pan.

I purchased this Infrared Gun to use in the place of a thermometer. However, after receiving this item, I learned it did nothing but take the temperature of the outside surface and not the internal temperature. I wonder for what purpose this Infrared Gun is to be used and wish there was a more descriptive indication for use when reviewing the on-line catalogue. Another item for the back of the cabinet!
