Good Storage

by Linda, NC
July 25, 2008

I had only a few old glass storage containers and needed more once I stopped using my plastic storage. The reviews I read about these talked about lids that didn't fit well and containers that did not stack, but I have no problem with this. The lids do an adequate job (If I want airtight I'll have to go to some plastic seal, right?) and they don't jiggle or wobble. The dishes stack neatly upon each other (but not inside each other). Overall I'm happy with them. I think they are priced a tad high, but they seem to be the only game in town so that's what I had to pay. I bought two of the 2 cup and two of the 5 cup and am being served well with those four and the four I had from my mom's kitchen. I rated them as a 4 rather than a 5 because I like the design on the old ones better than the design on these. But overall, I'm pleased.

Excellent. Looking forward to filling my fridge with these. I pop them from the fridge to the oven to the freezer. Only wish they were stackable. But, they are so wonderful, I don't care that they cannot be stacked. What a pleasure it is to wash them and not still smell the food that was stored in them. It is great to be able to store sauce without worrying about staining.

All, and all, Ihighly recommend these containers!

Heavy, durable glass. Much better than plastic containers which soak up odors and stains. Excellent product and hard to find. Thank you to cooking.com for carrying this product

Eliminating Plastic From My Kitchen

by Victoria, NY
February 9, 2007

I bought these to replace my plastic storage containers. I have been increasingly concerned about pthalates and other plastic toxins leaching into my food--especially when the food is hot. I love that the lids are glass also, but that makes them no good for travel. Things seem to freeze just fine in them, even tho the lids don't really seal. I am very pleased that they can go from the freezer to the oven. They are very much worth the money, and my kitchen has way less plastic in it now! The retro look is an added bonus, and they stack really well.

Glass containers best for fridge storage

by Phyllis, IN
September 15, 2008

I purchased several of these retro design glass storage containers because of the recent concerns about plastic storage containers possibly leaching chemicals into food. Glass seems to be a more environmentally friendly and safer way to go for food storage. I get a kick out of the design of the containers being the same as those used by my mother and mother-in-law (and I'm 70).

No more plastic

by allan, OR
July 8, 2007

We wanted to replace the plastic storage tubs that we have been using for years, due to the health risks. I cook everyday as we are vegan and cook local, fresh ingredients in larger quantities, therefore requiring storage for leftovers. These glass storage containers are great. They are nice looking, so we can serve from fridge to table, are versatile because we got several sizes, and the lids work well. We no longer worry about heating plastic and leaching toxic chemical into our food.

Excellent for storing left overs in frig. Plus, it's not like the plastic containers. When you take it out the dishwasher, it's dry! Not dripping in water that you have to towel dry.

I enjoy being able to freeze food to take to work for lunch in these containers. I like the freedom from dependence on plasticware for lunch food. However, some of the lids fit a little too loosely. So, I just put rubberbands around the container and over the lids when I transport them to work. One advantage to the way the lids fit is that steam escapes easily when microwaving without having to adjust the lid. This is a great product that I wish I had known about years ago.

This was a good product for the price. The only complaint I have it that it does not seal very well - so when its in the refrigerator the smell of the food is there. Other than that it is a good product.

Good for limited uses

by Chad, TX
September 13, 2007

These look great and keep food fresh with a little breathing at the lid. Beware the lids do not mate exactly with the containers. They are not water-tight. These smaller ones fit better than the larger ones, but the lid might rock a little bit and even rattle. We don't use these as much as we use our Pyrex glass containers with plastic lids (e.g., item #214213). But we still like them a lot, especially for serving.

classic American product still on the market

by Perry, GA
May 12, 2008

Having recently read about how plastic molecules leach into food (esp. hot or fatty foods) I was in the market for good glass containers. These are good sturdy containers and the only ones I know with glass lids. Lacking this I suppose I would have gotten CorningWare. They are attractive and the lids fit without rocking. Amazingly they are still made in America.

perfect storage

by Synthia, IL

wonderful, beautiful storage glass containers, very sturdy, unique looking and functional all at the same time.. (Our one-year old likes to play with putting the lids on the containers and has dropped them several times, but no breakage.)

best refrigerator food storage

by craig, CT
March 3, 2010

I have gotten more concerned regarding food storage adn thus these glass containers that can be microwaved are great--I recommend these as most worthwhile and highly recommend.

I do have 2 negatives:1) COOKING .COM needs to offer better shipping and free shipping on orders over $300.00--they did offer a discount after requesting and tried to pawn the newletter as a way of getting a free shipping coupon--have not seen any valid offers to date.
2)anchor hocking the manufacturer has discontinued these and now only makes then with a plastic top--althought I am sure it is cheaper to manufacturer it makes no sense and does not deal with the most common action__ie from frig to microwave--thus will be getting my lifetime supply and hope that the cep of anchorhocking wakes up to real market needs

i like the size and use it all the time for storage. the larger containers i ordered had scratches on the inside of the lids though so i might not order this brand again and i would be afraid to order anything glass from you again because it was packed unbeleivably poorly.
