What I wanted seemed so simple: a glass juice
pitcher with a lid that closed tight enough for me
to swirl my orange juice around in the morning
to re-mix the settled pulp, and with some stylishness.
I must have looked at hundreds via the net. This is
the one I chose and I'm happy with it. The square
shape is very space-efficient in the fridge and
the lid seals pretty tight. It looks rather elegant
(though the plastic lid looks somewhat less so
than the glass body of the pitcher, which is quite
nice). I liked it enough that when I'd bought one and
decided I liked it, I went back and bought two more.
I purchased the 2.25 Quart Glass Pitcher by Bormioli Rocco mainly because I no longer wish to use plastic containers for both taste and possible health benefits. Occasionally, after a liquid is in a plastic container I can taste the plastic. If I can taste the plastic then I'm ingesting the plastic which can't be good.
1) Pitcher made out of glass, Not Plastic
2) Short in height
3) Very Stable (will not accidentally tip over)
3) Reasonable price
1) The handle is not well designed. The handle is made for smaller hands (I have medium size hands and the handle is not very comfortable.) The gap between the handle and the pitcher should be made larger. Also, the handle should be attached at the bottom in addition to the top for added strength.
2) The lid is not secure (does not fit tightly) and is made of plastic. However, the lid will rarely make contact with the liquid, especially if the lid is removed while pouring.
3) Glass is not tempered. Therefore do not fill with boiling hot water to make ice tea.
4) The design of the spout is adequate, but could be easily improved by having slightly larger spout.
My only reservation about this pitcher is the limited amount of space between the handle and the body of the pitcher. The picture is a little deceptive. My hands are not real big, but I can only put my fingers around the handle up to the second knuckle. This is awakard and will take some getting use to. It is compact, twisting the inner part of the top gives an airtight seal and I can get my hand inside the pitcher which makes for easy cleaning. Overall, a good buy.

I had searched for a glass pitcher and I am more than happy w/ these-so happy that after I had ordered 2 I ordered 2 more. I have had absolutely no problems with the lids-if you follow the directions they seal tight and do not leak. I would buy more of these if I ever needed more pitchers.
This is the best juice pitcher I could currently find. It appears there is some confusion as to how the lid works - while the cap is on the pitcher, you must turn the inside of the cap in a clockwise motion to make it seal. I'm sure the design of the handle is for strength and durability, but I think by only allowing your fingers around the handle also keeps your palm closer to the pitcher and gives you more control while navigating in and out of your refrigerator.
Now that my family is past the need to have plastic tumblers with sippy lids, we are switching all of our kitchen products to glass. Not only is this pitcher the perfect size, it doesn't leave any after taste in my beverage. The only disadvantage is the handle leaves little room for a larger hand but, we haven't had any incidents as of yet.
Wonderful size glass pitcher. It fits well on shelves in the refrigerator. It took a couple of trys to get the lid to seal properly, but it works well with the proper technique. The space between the handle and the pitcher is a little tight, but it is easy to get used to. Overall very nice pitcher.
This is just a pitcher. Not bad. Not great. It is a simple yet attractive piece of glass, but I think it looks too squat. I wish it was taller. I like the wide opening - which makes it easy to clean. The lid, while not difficult to operate, seems unnecessarily complicated. For all its complication, the lid is not leak proof.
The handle is attached only at the top, and although it feels sturdy, I can imagine it snapping off one day if one knocks it too hard. The handle is too close to the body making it difficult to get ones fingers around the handle.
- Nice wide mouth - easy to clean
- Simple design
- Lid is not leak proof
- Lid has nooks and crannies that are difficult to clean
- Handle is too close to the body making it difficult to get your fingers in there
- Handle is attached in only one place - feels like it might snap off (but probably won't).
I have an aversion to plastic, so if I can use glass or stainless, I always do.
This is a great basic pitcher at a great price. The lid seals tightly so that you can shake up the contents if needed (juices, kool aid, etc.) without spilling. Its dishwasher safe (lid too) - I mean, what more could you ask for!
Aside from the fact that there really are no other glass pitchers this size with covers that I could find, this pitcher is awesome. I have to agree with other reviews, that the hand space under the handle is minimal, but that also makes it fit into tight spaces in the fridge. I use it for raw milk. The wide opening facilitates cream skimming. The cover fits well and is easy to use, (after I figured out how to work it). It is easy to wash - no nooks or crannies for debris to accumulate. I think this is a winner!
The handle is a little small, but after a while we have gotten used to that. The only minor problem is that the spout drips a little bit when you pour the first glass or two from a completely full pitcher. After that point dripping is not a problem. The lid requires some technique to get the hang of, but works well. It is extremely easy to clean.
I like the durable feel of this pitcher. Nice and heavy. Fits well in the fridge door. I also like the way the lid locks down with a twist. I have washed the pitcher in the dishwasher & it did fine (hand washed the lid).
I am very happy with this container - I had a hard time finding glass pitchers in my retail stores and saw this one here on cooking.com. Bought 2 and use both. I am trying to stay away from plastic. I have put in the dishwasher (lid top rack) and everything works out perfectly. The ONLY thing that i'd like in a product like this is a few measurement lines so I don't have to pre-measure and then pour.
We absolutely love this pitcher. It is very durable and easy to clean with its wide mouth. The top is unique in that it seals (which is what we needed) with a turn of an upper handle. The main handle seemed a bit small in proportion to the rest of the pitcher, but when we lift it, it is fine and very functional. Besides its functional side, it is quite beautiful as well.
This is a great pitcher. I have been through several glass pitchers trying to find one that doesn't dribble. I like the squat shape, too, for storing on smaller shelves. I wash the pitcher in the dishwasher and the lid by hand. Haven't figured out how the lid works, but I just remove the lid for pouring and that works great.
This glass storage pitcher is really a great bargain for the price. Although at first,we were not thrilled with the lid. Therefore, I am glad that I waited to review this pitcher because now that I have mastered opening and closing the lid, I really appreciate the tight seal. Also, it is just the right size to mix 2 quart drinks without spilling. It's rectangle shape, fits nicely in the frige. The clear glass is easy to clean and to see what is inside. I am glad that I ordered Two.
Except for it not being tempered, this pitcher is perfect. Fits in the door of my fridge. Ergonomic (for me, small-handed female) and holds quite a bit of fluid. Easy to clean. The plastic lid is not a problem for me (although it's true, be careful cleaning it, it has sharpish edges). Why they don't have more pitchers with plastic lids, I'll never know, but this one fits the bill.
