I saw these tongs as I was checking out and because I was purchasing pans that needed gentler tools than stainless staples we already had, these seemed like the perfect addition. Once they arrived I quickly saw that although the locking mechanism worked perfectly, the tong ends which are made of plastic were rather rough on the edges. The lack of smooth finish on the end that comes in contact with the pan is an issue - first use led to a permanent scratch on a costly pan. The other minor issue is that the plastic tong ends are not the pull length of the handles so heavy meat roasts could easily pop them out of the stainless section. They work OK but still on the lookout for the 'perfect' set of tongs.

The shorter tongs are ok other than being flimsy. They are 1 piece metal all the way to the end and coated with a notstick cover. The longer tongs are extremely flimsy as they are 2 piece with the tips made of plastic and attached to the ends. They flex under minor loads and feel as they will snap off at any moment. I would not recommend either.

I like the versatility that the two piece set offers. Good value for the price. The locking feature allows for easy storage. The combination of metal for strength, along with the non marring ends, makes these a must have for the kitchen.

after having gone through many sets of so call "high heat" tongs, these are a keeper. had some commercial grade but broke after over 12 yrs of use and now live in an area where there are no restaurant supply houses so i thought i'd try cooking.com since the only other place to purchase anything is walmart, and you know what you get there! i figured even if they said up to 450 degrees i should take a chance. do allot of cooking on high heat outdoor burners and these haven't melted yet! they are light weight, have a nice rubber grip handle and are easily maneuvered in your hand. i'm happy with the product and would recommend them.
