The best way to ensure tender pie crust? Prepare dough with the lightweight canvas Pastry Cloth and Rolling Pin Cover, and you'll use very little additional flour, which can toughen pastry. Just rub a little flour into the fibers to make each piece an excellent non-stick surface. Clean cloths thoroughly before storing, so that no fat residue remains to affect the flavor of future doughs. Provides 20-in. x 24-in. of rolling surface. Rolling Pin Cover stretches to fit any reasonably sized rolling pin.

  • MOST HELPFUL REVIEWS:

  • I purchased this as a gift because I love mine so much. Using the cloth when rolling out dough is much much better than just using flour on a wood or marble surface. The dough rolls out much easier and hardly sticks. Using the cloth surface makes cleanup easy.

    I recommend this product.

  • Pastry cloth saves the cookies

I have always struggled with a rolling pin, but when I decided to make rolled out cookies for a Girl Scout Troop project, I needed to master the skill. The pastry cloth and the rolling pin cover made it easy for even a group of 10 year olds to roll out dough.

    I recommend this product.

  • I'm sure this is going to be great once I get the hang of working with it. Instructions would be helpful. Seems to take a lot more flour than I expected, though not more than my board.

  • The pastry cloth shrunk in the wash and has become stiff and wrinkled. The rolling pin cover was great, though a little big for a french pin.

  • nice concept, impractical for use

I have tried using this product several times to roll out pie dough. The cotton cloth slips and slides all over the countertop. I had to tape it down with duct tape, which leaves a residue on my countertop. If anyone has suggestions, I'm open to them. Otherwise, it's a waste of time for me.

  • works better than flour

The Pastry Cloth works better than flour for me. My only space to roll dough is the top of our smooth surface ceramic stove. The Pastry Cloth makes it MUCH easier to move the dough once it's rolled out, and I'm not wasting all that flour anymore either. I no longer have issues with the dough sticking to my rolling pin. This is a product I should have purchased years ago.

    I recommend this product.

  • Great value. I have wanted one of these for a long time and don't know why I waited so long! They really make a big difference in making pie pastry. I strongly recommend a set for anyone who like to make their own pie or other pastry.

  • I have used pastry cloths and rolling pin covers for my pie baking for over 30 years. This one is of fine quality and the right size. I couldn't find any locally, so thank goodness Cooking.com had them. Would also work well for rolled cookies and bisquits.

  • Works great. Need to continue to use some flour on the Pastry Cloth and roller, but it sure does reduces the sticking to the rolling pin and pastry cloth. Once batter does stick to it, it was a simple matter to rinse out for the next time. Would recommend you get two so you can switch out when it gets clogged with the batter.

  • I first heard about this item in a magazine article raving about how easy it makes rolling out a pie crust. Well, they are definitely right on that one! No more sticky dough. It takes the mess competely out of the job! You can roll the dough out very thin and it comes off the cloth with ease. I will be using frequently.

  • I have not been able to find the rolling pin cover in stores, so was thrilled to find it here. My mother had a similar set when I was a kid, and she made the best pie crusts I have ever tasted, so I wanted one just like it.

  • The old-fashioned cotton pastry cloth is becoming difficult to find, and it is a disappointment to see silicone sheets replacing them. For those of who have been rolling out pie crusts and cookie dough for 30-50 years, nothing is as satisfactory as the cotton cloths. This set was exactly what my mother and I were looking for and could not find in any stores or through any catalogues. This set is the best buy and the best product for pastry cloths.

    I recommend this product.

  • The cover for the rolling pin unraveled at the ends when rolling out pie dough. It gets caught in the space between the barrel and the handles of the rolling pin.
The pastry cloth was a little too stiff but it was usable.

  • These items help immensely when rolling out dough. I had to devise a system to stop the cloth from sliding on the counter. (I use a Silpat underneath) Finding other things to wash with it was a little difficult.

  • Good deal. A must have for anything pastry related (pies, tarts, etc). I was a first-timer into this area of cooking and I am soooooo glad I had these items. I attempted later to make another pie shell WITHOUT the cloth, and let me tell you, I will never make that mistake again. The amount of flour used to roll out when using the cloth is easily halved, so you get a much nicer shell.

    I recommend this product.
