It is a great machine but the problem I have with it is that is a lot noisier than the smaller 1 1/2 quart
The noise is almost too much for the kitchen. I plug it in at another outlet in the house
Making ice cream with this couldn't be easier
I didn't realize how much 2 qts of ice cream is.
Here are some tips:
When you put the freezer bowl in the freezer don't forget to wrap it in a bag to prevent freezer burn.
Don't confuse heavy whipping cream with regular whipping cream.
The ice cream needs to be frozen for a few hours after you finish churning to get the correct texture. It comes out of the machine fairly soft.
You cannot buy a extra freezer bowl separately yet, but it will be available for purchase soon.
so far so good....
Pros: Able to make small batches of ice cream product in about 25 minutes without getting out the big old fashioned and much loved white mountain churn. Can use own ingredients and decrease the amount of fat and sugar in the product if that is your goal. Open top allows you to add ingredients at different points in the cycle.
Cons: It does make some noise, not unbearable, just requires an upping of the volume for conversation, so I just plan accordingly. The freezer bowl takes up space in the freezer (but you knew that) and if you touch the inside of the bowl when it is frozen--beware---that's what it is---frozen! and so will be your finger tip. I keep mine in a large zip top bag in the freezer, to keep crumbs etc. from getting in it. Not sure about the studiness of the plastic dasher, but so far so good. You do have to get the product out of the bowl when you think it is finished, or the edges will freeze hard.
Overall: Had it about 6 weeks and love the item, have developed a recipe to use up all sorts of summer fruits.....would buy it again if/when this one breaks or fails.
WOW
This is a great machine by all accounts. I would suggest ordering an additional freezer container so that is you are inclined to make two batches you would be able to do so the same day. Not a big inconvenince just have to be organized to plan ahead. I have made several ice cream flavors and all have been wonderful. The lemon lime sorbet was made specifically as a base for margarita's, they were the best I have ever tasted! We keep this sorbet in the freezer so that we can enjoy one anytime!
You will not be disappointed if you purchase this machine!
Not what I expected! It's a malted machine.
The machine doesn't perform as expected, the ice cream never hardens enouch to scoop it is more like a milk shake. The sherbert had to be put into forms then frozen to be edible. I am extremely disappointed in the product.

I have had my Cuisinart ice cream maker for about a month now and made only four batches of ice cream, all from recipes that came with the unit. Haven't tried sorbet or yogurt yet, just ice cream using seasonal fruit. What I have learned is that it is super important to have the freezer bowl well frozen and the ingredients very cold before starting to churn. My first batch of ice cream was perfect, the next three, still slushy even giving it a longer churning time. Subsequently frozen slush is very hard and not especially easy to spoon out. Still tastes good, but the texture is not AT ALL what you want.
The unit is NOT quiet, but it is VERY easy to use. The 2-qt capacity is very nice, makes just enough till you can re-freeze the bowl (24 hours) and make another batch. The removable bowl has to be completely frozen before use, so multiple batches in one day are not possible. You also need enough room in your freezer to store the unit upright, not tipped.
I am concerned that the paddle will not hold up as long as the unit. The unit seems very sturdy. The paddle is plastic, and in my opinion, a bit on the thin side. Time will tell.
This unit is easy to clean, easy to use. Its square shape makes it pretty easy to store, though I suggest leaving the freezer bowl in the freezer so it is always ready.
This product is so easy to use, a dream to clean, and a perfect size. We use it at least once a week to make ice cream, kool aid slushies, and we're working up to gelato. It is a little loud, but not so much that you can't be in the same room. I can even talk on the phone while it is running.

I'm not vegan, but I'm lactose-intolerant but love delicious ice creams. This ice cream maker was a great investment for me since I know exactly what will go into my dairy-free creamy concoctions from now on. I have tried several unique flavors, so far they have all turned out delicious. The first recipe I tried was avocado ice cream. The flavor turned out terrific (fresh avocado, soymilk, soy creamer, sugar, lime juice, tequila)...can't go wrong there. BUT I was impatient and didn't let my freeze bowl freeze completely through before I started making ice cream...SO the mixture never froze after 45 minutes. No fun. The next time I made ice cream I froze the bowl overnight and chilled the mixture of my mint chip ice cream. This time the mixture became a beautiful, delicious ice cream in 20-30 minutes. I like to put the product in a freezable container for a few hours before I enjoy since I like my ice cream hard. But if you like yours soft-serve style(or just can't resist the ice cream), straight out of the machine is fine, too. I've tried a chocolate stout ice cream and coconut-mango with ginger ice cream, and they were all successes.

I have had a 1.5-qt. Frozen yogurt Maker by Cuisinart since it came out and used it several times a week. I still have it and it is still working fine. I bought the 2-qt. so I would not have to make yogurt three times a week but only two. Take my word the 2-qt. is well worth the money which that alone is a great deal. It is not noisy, cleans up well and is a very smart looking Maker. You can always count on getting the best when you buy a Cuisinart.

Everyone that I gave it to just loved it. The next will probably be chocolate because it is the grandkids favorite. I have used all types of ice cream making machines and this is by far the best.

In the time it takes to eat dinner, soft serve gelato or sorbet or ice cream can be ready! The liners do best when stored in the colder deep freeze, but do a fine job in a regular fridge/freezer. Make ice cream from leftover fruit, some powdered sugar and milk, blended with a simple stick blender--amazingly marvelous, fresh results. And YOU control the contents. I made soy ice "cream" for a nephew with milk allergies and he was in heaven!
What a delightful tool with a small footprint--half the size of a bread machine! A spare liner is a handy purchase if you like to make a couple of flavors back-to-back.
Best Ice Cream Maker I've Tried
This is best Ice Cream Maker I have tried; and believe me over the years I have tried quite a few. I froze the container for 24+ hours and when I put the mixture in, it immediately started to freeze. My husband and I had some as soft serve and froze the rest. The next day it was solid and just as delicious. I would definitely recommend this item; in fact I am going to buy one for my Mom and Dad for Christmas.

The recipes were easy to follow and the machine is simple and easy to operate. It is nice to start the machine when you sit down to dinner and have great ice cream for dessert withourt driving somewhere and spending money. We are continuing to enjoy it everyday.

This is an upgrade for me from the 1.5 qt. maker. The freezing bowl didn't work anymore and I decided to upgrade in machine rather than just replace the bowl. I've already made two batches and both have been as good as with the smaller model. I highly recommend both, but will note that it's easier to find containers for the larger batches at my local Kroger. Outstanding product!

I have been wanting an ice cream maker for a long time. This one is very easy to use, but it is a little loud when the motor runs. However, knowing that you are going to have a yummy treat, makes the noise more anticipatory than annoying. Can't wait to try more recipes with low fat and sugar free ingredients.

This ice cream maker is wonderful. The ice cream was done in about a half hour. I made the simple recipe and used Low Fat Half and Half, along with Splendar for sweetening. With vanilla, we had a delicious low fat, low sugar ice cream. Best product I have seen in awhile.

We first tried a sorbet...the machine seems to have some problems with the less creamy liquid. The coffee/chocolate ice cream we made turned out delicious, as did the strawberry and passionfruit. We are enjoying all the flavor combos...just need a recipe for no fat and calories.

My husband and boys love icecream. We are always getting icecream. They would eat it for breakfast if I let them. I got this machine and have made icecream for them. My husband said that the icecream that I made was better than the stores. In 20 minutes I have icecream that I can put in the freezer and serve later and it will serve my family who have to have at least 4 to 5 scoops of icecream. It is nice and I know what has gone into my family.
This machine is very easy to use and to clean.
The L'll Happy Ice Cream Maker
Good news: I had been holding off buying this product thinking it was just another small appliance that I would use once and put aside. I have found it very easy to use and have tried several recipes that came with the ice cream maker. All very good. I especially like the large opening on the top for the added extras.
Bad news: I've gained about 5 pounds.
So easy!
My family loves this - we've made 4 batches of ice cream so far & each turned out perfect!I'm going to try a sorbet next. I like knowing exactly what is in each batch & being able to control the sugar. Would recomment this product to any ice-cream lover!
