Everything happens in one place -- the integrated motor, double-insulated freezer bowl and automatic mixing paddle do all the work. All you need to do is dream up your next delicious frozen recipe. Best Used For:
Making ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet and frozen drinks.
Why We Love It:
It’s so easy to use, which means we use it all the time! The size is convenient and surprisingly compact considering it can make 2-quart batches. We like knowing that we’re using wholesome, real ingredients -- no weird mystery additives like we’ve seen on the labels of store-bought ice cream. Keep a second freezer bowl on hand so that once the kids have had their custom-made icy treats, adults can use the Pure Indulgence to make frozen margaritas!

Cleaning & Care: Use warm soapy water, no abrasive cleaners
When you put the freezer bowl in the freezer don't forget to wrap it in a bag to prevent freezer burn. Don't confuse heavy whipping cream with regular whipping cream. The ice cream needs to be frozen for a few hours after you finish churning to get the correct texture. It comes out of the machine fairly soft.
You cannot buy a extra freezer bowl separately yet, but it will be available for purchase soon.
Pros: Able to make small batches of ice cream product in about 25 minutes without getting out the big old fashioned and much loved white mountain churn. Can use own ingredients and decrease the amount of fat and sugar in the product if that is your goal. Open top allows you to add ingredients at different points in the cycle. Cons: It does make some noise, not unbearable, just requires an upping of the volume for conversation, so I just plan accordingly. The freezer bowl takes up space in the freezer (but you knew that) and if you touch the inside of the bowl when it is frozen--beware---that's what it is---frozen! and so will be your finger tip. I keep mine in a large zip top bag in the freezer, to keep crumbs etc. from getting in it. Not sure about the studiness of the plastic dasher, but so far so good. You do have to get the product out of the bowl when you think it is finished, or the edges will freeze hard. Overall: Had it about 6 weeks and love the item, have developed a recipe to use up all sorts of summer fruits.....would buy it again if/when this one breaks or fails.
I've always wanted an ice cream maker, and this "Pure Indulgence" by Cuisinart is easy to use, doesn't need salt and ice, and makes ice cream in 30 minutes. I personally like to put it in the freezer for a couple of hours before eating, but that a matter of preference. Can't wait to try Gelato!
All I can say is WOW!! Our basic vanilla recipe was the best the family and i have ever had. Two days later we made the lemon sorbet and it was completly out of this world delicious. Go and buy this product now!!
Made the best ice cream and used no eggs. I believe a person could use egg substitute if they actually needed egg in their ice cream. Had my daughter and her family here when we made the first batch and six people had no problem at all going through the entire batch. Great fun for the kids.
I received this as a gift and really enjoy using it. I looked at several machines before selecting this and I am extremely happy with my selection. I have made a couple of different ice creams from the recipe book that come with the machine and have been fairly pleased with the results. I ordered another book on making ice cream and can't wait to try some more creative recipes. Have also used it to make sorbet. That also turned well. I did not find the machine to be loud as some reported. I was able to carry on a conversation in the kitchen with it running with no problems. Really love this machine!
This works so well. Makes great ice cream in 20 to 25 minutes. The only problem I have had with it is getting all of the ice cream out of it. I use it once or twice a week and could not be more pleased with it.
I am disappointed as I have not been able to try the unit yet because the ad failed to mention that two things were required to use it: space in your freezer for the two quart bowl and, seemingly, a freezer at zero Farenheit
I have had my Cuisinart ice cream maker for about a month now and made only four batches of ice cream, all from recipes that came with the unit. Haven't tried sorbet or yogurt yet, just ice cream using seasonal fruit. What I have learned is that it is super important to have the freezer bowl well frozen and the ingredients very cold before starting to churn. My first batch of ice cream was perfect, the next three, still slushy even giving it a longer churning time. Subsequently frozen slush is very hard and not especially easy to spoon out. Still tastes good, but the texture is not AT ALL what you want.
The unit is NOT quiet, but it is VERY easy to use. The 2-qt capacity is very nice, makes just enough till you can re-freeze the bowl (24 hours) and make another batch. The removable bowl has to be completely frozen before use, so multiple batches in one day are not possible. You also need enough room in your freezer to store the unit upright, not tipped.
I am concerned that the paddle will not hold up as long as the unit. The unit seems very sturdy. The paddle is plastic, and in my opinion, a bit on the thin side. Time will tell.
This unit is easy to clean, easy to use. Its square shape makes it pretty easy to store, though I suggest leaving the freezer bowl in the freezer so it is always ready.
Overall it is very easy to use and does well giving a really good frozen dessert. The only complaint I have it the On - Off knob/switch is very flimsy and cheap and I am not sure how long it will actually hold up
the ice cream maker worked very well. i recommend freezing the container the maximum suggested time to insure proper consistency at the end. i've made vanilla, simple chocolate, and fresh strawberry so far. the recipes in the book seem to be accurate, although my next batch of vanilla will have slightly less sugar in it. the only drawback i can see is i don't think you can make 2 batches back-to-back without refreezing the container, or getting a 2nd container to have frozen and ready. overall, a very simple, capable, and competant piece. i'm glad to have it in my kitchen!
