doesn't fit

be very careful if you purchase this product. it's unclear from the cooking.com site which calphalon products this is compatible with, and from the calphalon site, it's not that much clearer. we purchased this and it *does not* fit with the calphalon products we purchased from cooking.com. i'm actually not convinced that this product is compatible with any of the calphalon products that cooking.com stocks, which seems unfortunate and puzzling to me.

This is an excellent double boiler, but contrary to the description, it does not fit the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepan.

It was impossible from your display to see the inside of the insert. I would have prefered an insert without the ridgeline inside, ie. a completely smooth interior. The insert works fine beyond that issue.

Exceptional bargain

I read all the reviews on this product before purchasing. My only concern was how the double boiler insert would fit my Calphalon pan. To my amazement, it fits mine perfectly - like it was made just for my pan and it was on sale too. Double Bonus!!

Stainless Steel Double Boiler Insert

Love it. Like the way the bottom is rounded to accommodate a whisk (unlike other double boilers I've had, which have had flat bottoms). Fits my Calphalon Tri-Ply 2.5-qt. saucepan perfectly.

Measure Twice, Order Once

Like all the Calphalon products I've used this double boiler insert is of the highest quality and workmanship. However, like others who've reviewed this product I failed to reailize that it did not fit any of my Calphalon One pans.

Not as described or what I expected

According to the description of this item, this should have fit two of my Calphalon pots. It did not. It does not fit tightly--diameter is not right and depth is too much. I would recommend calling customer service to confirm whether this is right for your pot.

The double boiler is good quality, etc. My problem is that is doesn't fit the way it should into my 2.5 quart Calphalon saucepan to be used a a double boiler. It will work somewhat in my 2.0 saucepan. It is usable, but not as it is intended. I will wait a while and hopefully order the saucepan that goes with it. Purchasers need to know that is doesn't necessarily fit all other Calphalon pots.

Double Boiler: A Necessity

No set of cookware is complete without a double boiler. This double boiler insert fits the Calphalon 21/2 Qt. tri-ply stainless cookpot perfectly. As was pointed out in an earlier review, the groove on the inside of the double boiler top is the one thing between ordinary and perfection. The Calphalon name is not on the insert anywhere. My guess is that it is not commissioned by Calphalon.

My daughter loves it. It is the correct size and it dishwasher safe.

The product is the typical high quality one expects from Calphalon, but I wonder why no manufacturer seems to think about placing a pour spout on the lip of a double-boiler?

Really even heating. Only problem is the lip on the side - you get product sticking in the indented lip (I use it to melt chocolate) and you have to make an extra effort to get all the good stuff out of the lip.

The insert is a perfect addition to my professional category sauce pan. It couldn't fit better if I had had it specifically made and machine tooled. You have one happy camper, here. After a curious snafu on delivery, Cooking.com remedied the situation with undue efficiency. Again, I'm happy as a clam at high tide for their follow through. Undoubtedly, if you have a professional category sauce pan and want attentive service, I recommend this site and this product without hesitation.

Great Double Boiler

I thought several favorite recipes were going to be gone forever when I broke the semi-antique Pyrex double boiler that I'd "inherited" from my mom (in the 70's!). After juggling with floating pans on top of each other, I found this insert. Contrary to some of the reviews, it fits perfectly in my Calphalon saucepan (2.5 qt - #870212), and I love it!

Great Item!

This is a very easy item to use. I have never used a double boiler before but with my 1st time trying it, it was so easy! Cannot wait to use it more!

I was really disappointed to find out I had to buy a 2 ½ quart saucepan to put this in. I thought it was two pieces. Very deceptive!! I didn’t return it because why pay postage, and the time to send it back. I can go buy a pan to put it in. I am truly not happy – I have purchased a lot of this brand of pan in the past. Did not fit my 2.5 qt Calphalon pans!

Bought this to fit my Calphalon pans but it did not. Description said it fit 2.5 qt Calphalon "saucepan," but I tried it in my 2.5 qt Calphalon cooking pots/pans, and it didn't work. Must be designed to fit one specific "saucepan." Disappointing!
