5-pc. Canning Kit by Weston
Canning is an economical way to preserve fresh quality foods at home while retaining their important vitamins and nutrients. The right equipment is essential to ensure a quality product and Granite Ware offers all the basics of blanching produce for the freezer or for cold-pack canning.

This 21.5-qt. enameled steel pot with lid and wire rack is 14-in. in diameter and 12.5-in. high with its lid on. It's the traditional favorite for making jams, jellies, preserves, and marmalades. It has a jar capacity of 7 quarts, 7 pints, 7-12oz jelly jars, 7 half pints or 7-4oz jelly jars. Without its rack, this old-fashioned, time-honored porcelain-on-steel pot becomes a perfect preserving kettle for large recipes.

I have had one of these kettles before and they last for years. They are great for hot water bath canning of pints and quarts. The only problem is they are not made to use on smooth surface/glass top stoves. There's a bit of a rim around the outer edge so they will sit on the burner in the middle. But this rim keeps the kettle from touching the surface on the glass top stove.

Fragile Porcelin Coating

by Gerald, KY
November 26, 2007

The porcelin coating chips off of this canner very easily. When it arrived the base was slightly dented which caused the porcelin to flake off and it is rusting where the porcelin used to be. Also, the first time I picked it up by the handles with water in it the place where the handles mount flexed causing the porcelin to chip off around the handles. It is very lightweight and thin metal. For the price I paid I expected more.

21.5-qt. Covered Canner

by Michael, CA
February 13, 2007

Nice sturdy canner. Best deal I could find for the quality I got (adding in shipping of course). I recommend this one if you want/need a canner. I make large quantities of BBQ sauce with my sons and then can them for the upcoming summer parties. This is the best way to go while including the kids!
Oh, I got it a lot quicker than I was expecting as well.

After using a stockpot for ages, I finally splurged on a *real* canner! So nice to have the head-room to can pint jars! Also, the basket keeps the jars separate, so I don't have to keep checking the movement of the jars as they boil.

canner i sheavy with a flat bottom that stays flat on the burners of the stove. It's heavy constructioon allows me to feel that it will last a long time and the jars will not warp the kettle after many years. Hard to find item but well worth the price.

A necessity for canning

by Marie, PA
February 9, 2007

For many years, I tried to do without a covered canner. Last year, I broke down and bought this covered canner and I am glad that I did. It makes the job much easier. True, the canner is too big for my stove burners. Plus, it takes a long time for the water to heat up inside the canner (as it is a lot of water you're heating up). Yet, I'll never go back to using a

I've been canning for over 40 years. I finally needed to replace my old water-bath canner, but the only ones I could find in stores were $45 or more. This one was half that price! It arrived even more quickly than promised, and in perfect condition! We'll be eating well all winter long! Thank you!!

A covered canner is a covered canner

I was looking for another large boiling-water canner and was having a hard time finding one in my local area. I saw this here while I was shopping for something else and ordered it. Even with shipping it didn't cost anymore than I would have paid locally.

Reminds me of the one my Mom had when I was little. It's the perfect size, very sturdy, and I like that it includes a nice jar rack too. Definitely recommend!

Damaged Product

by Jenine, WI
August 10, 2011

After opening the box I saw that the lid was damaged. About 3 inches of the coating on the edge of the lid was scraped off, exposing bare metal, also part of the lip was bent. I immediately contacted customer service. They would have sent a new lid but it was out of stock. Much to my surprise, they gave me a full refund. Problem was resolved to my satisfaction.

I did a lot of comparison shopping before deciding on this product, and I'm very pleased with the canner. This is the best in this price range; can only recommend.

Just what I've been looking for

by Joyce, LA
December 30, 2010

I've recently been interested in doing some jelly making and home canning. This is the real deal. Only one thing I would have liked - that the jar rack would have compartments for each jar.so that the jars would not fall over when I use only a few jars.

This is such an amazing canner! Very light weight, tall and holds a lot of jars. The basket keeps the jars from rattling as well.
