This is a truly substantial board, dense and weighty. Its size allows more than one operation to occur simultaneously, which compensates for the counter space that it uses in our kitchen.
Much too heavy for normal use. Unfortunately was paying attention to the wonderful size of it and never noticed whether or not the weight was posted. Much too heavy for me to use, passed it on to a much stronger person.
She absolutely loves the board. I thought it might be too heavy for her since she's in her 70's, but she loves it, and says the weight is no problem. There is no meal now that she does not use the board for in some compacity

My two requirements for a cutting board were that it have a trough to catch runoff and that it have legs to slightly elevate it. This board has neither, but it's turned out to be what I really needed all along. It is large, as other reviewers have stated, but because the surface is so spacious, I can live without a trough. And now I can't even remember why I thought I needed one with legs! I highly recommend this cutting board, especially for those who are serious about cooking.
This is the best cutting board I have ever used and been introduced to and a fantastic value. Having enough room to cut all your ingredients instead of dirtying several cutting boards helps speed up the cleaning process. Plus it's great that it fits right next to my stove so I can just chop and drop it into the pan. I would recommend this to everyone!
This board is exactly what I was looking for. It is heavy - and I keep it in one place on my counter - it is not a moveable item. I love the huge surface and like others who have posted, I do a lot of vegetable chopping and it is so nice having the space to do chop and the space to place those veggies already chopped. It holds a ton of food. I did oil it down good with mineral oil when I first got it and will do so every few weeks.
This is an amazing cutting board. It is beautiful to look and and easy to keep clean.
It is very professional looking and the pride of my kitchen.
Any size John Boos is a wonderful kitchen tool but, this big one is on a grand scale. It has a permanent home on my counter and is used several times a day.
Treat yourself. It is well worth it. It is a treat that will last a lifetime.
All of the John Boos products I have are the best and made in Illinois.
This is a big and fairly heavy board that someone will find difficult to handle if you store it elsewhere than on your counter top.
That being said it is a large working surface with an excellent, tight grained suface where you can cut and store several items at a time while you prep a receipe.
I just love this cutting board. I leave it on my countertop, where it's ready to use, and it looks so pretty. I love the fact that it is solid maple, after a few years, it could be sanded down and look like new again. I liked mine so well, I ordered this for my daughter-in-law.
When the package arrived, the box had apparently burst open as the corners and side of the chopping block were scratched and slightly dented. It was too close to the date we were having Christmas with some out-of-town relatives so a return could not be done. The chopping block itself is great, however I am very unhappy with the condition...as you could imagine, it was very embarrasing giving a gift that was scuffed!
Not for the faint hearted. Clear some counterspace and break out the slicers and dicers. This cutting board is so solid it could double as a retaining wall. This may be the last cutting board I ever buy.
All kidding aside, the board came as adverstised, in great shape and packed well for shipment--first class all around! Well worth the price. I think I will model my next kitchen around this board.
