This is a truly substantial board, dense and weighty. Its size allows more than one operation to occur simultaneously, which compensates for the counter space that it uses in our kitchen.
Much too heavy for normal use. Unfortunately was paying attention to the wonderful size of it and never noticed whether or not the weight was posted. Much too heavy for me to use, passed it on to a much stronger person.
She absolutely loves the board. I thought it might be too heavy for her since she's in her 70's, but she loves it, and says the weight is no problem. There is no meal now that she does not use the board for in some compacity

This thing is subsantial - make room on you countertop and don't be shocked by the heft of it.
That said, it is beautiful and useful.
"Invest" in some food safe mineral oil (it's $3.95) - keeps the board from drying out. Also think about a bench scrape to move prepped items from board to stovetop since you're not going to be picking this thing up to transfer foos around.
It is such a pleasure to do your prep work on a large board - you can get it all together and not dirty so many little prep bowls in the process.
The ONLY board you will ever need. Be prepared for its hefty weight of 20 lbs - a testament to its sturdiness. Remember this board is the one you see all the Food Network chefs using...and if you buy it through the Food Network website you'll pay nearly twice what it costs at Cooking.com.
I love the size of this board. I have a limited amount of counter space so I place the board over half of my sink and when I'm chopping all I have to do is slide the cut off portions into the other side and it goes directly into the garbage disposal. How great is that?! Also you can chop, slice multiple items and place them in "stations" on your board and still have plenty of room for other preperations. The best thing is you only have 1 area to clean up instead of a bunch of little bowls
It's a wonderful board. I keep it next to my stove and use it everyday. It cleans well with just a wipe from a damp sponge, even after chopping dark greens, such as parsley.
I like it so much I purchased 3 more as gifts for my brothers who also cook alot.
I love this cutting board. I have a small kitchen so I just leave it out all the time and use it just about all day long. There is plenty of room to prepare your meals and still have room left over. The wood is beautiful and gives an elegant flair to my kitchen. I am so glad I purchased a John Boos. I highly recomment it to everyone.
The cutting board is, well, a piece of wood. Its very thick so it raises your cutting table to 1.5". I am fairly petite, and the 1.5" makes a big difference. Its hard to get use to. Its very large. They do not recommend cutting poultry and fish. I have sealed it with mineral oil. You would think for the cost of this, it would have come with a small bottlel. Really nothing special, but the size is nice.Still after "sealed", I find that anything I chop still lingers in the wood, even after a good washing. My daughter complains her toast always tastes like onions!!! Yuck
