Everyone loves fresh pasta from their favorite local Italian restaurant, but why go out to eat when you can make fresh pasta at home with the KitchenAid® 3-pc. Pasta Roller Attachment Set for your KitchenAid stand mixer? This versatile set includes three easy-to-use KitchenAid stand mixer hub-mounted attachments which can make a wide variety of pasta styles from flat, wide lasagna noodles to long, thin versions such as linguini and fettuccine. It’s easier than you can imagine to have freshly made pasta at home. After whipping up a quick batch of pasta dough in your KitchenAid stand mixer with the included recipes, the roller attachment is used to gently and gradually flatten and extend your dough to the desired thickness, which can then be passed through one of the cutter attachments separately to create customized pasta noodles. Fresh pasta is perfect for pairing with your favorite sauces, and you can even add additional layers of flavor to dishes by flavoring the noodles themselves. Try black pepper fettuccine or sun-dried tomato linguine for a burst of aromatic flavor. When you are finished, the attachments are easy to clean up. Simply let the attachments air dry, and then wipe away dried dough and excess flour with the included cleaning brush.
Best Used For:
Pasta noodle styles including lasagna, ravioli, fettuccine and linguini
Why We Love It:
Because we’ve always wanted to relive the pasta and meatballs scene from “Lady and the Tramp” on a date night, and making homemade pasta is far more romantic than boiling the stuff from a box.
Three different attachments that fit into your KitchenAid stand mixer hub: a pasta roller, fettuccine cutter and spaghetti cutter
Includes perfect pasta tips and recipes
Cleaning & Care: Remove Any Dried Dough with Cleaning Brush
This attachment set, like all Kitchen Aid products, is made extremely well and is meant to last a lifetime. That being said, the cost is a bit expensive if you don't look at it as an investment. The roller and cutters are extremely easy to use and once you eat fresh, homemade pasta, any thought about the cost of the attachments goes right out the window. I made pasta 4 times in the first week I had it! the clean up is pretty easy - just keep the attachements well floured while making the pasta and it will be a breeze. I highly recommend this product, Do read the instructions several times before beginning. It will save you time in the end.
The pasta roller and cutters work terrific. However; they are expensive and if you truly like homemade pasta (far superior than store bought), then worth the price. I found a pasta recipe on-line that uses equal amounts of semolina flour and white flour that makes perfect pasta. It took me about three batches to get it perfect and learn of the tricks for ease of use. Originally I had the grinder with pasta plates and it was an absolute disaster--shame on Kitchenaid for selling such an inferior, non-functioning product. The pasta rollers are excellent.
I went to a cooking school in Italy. We made pasta and it took 3 hands. One to turn the roller and 2 hands to guide the fresh pasta out. I live alone and decided to enlist the help of my Kitchenaid. Once I got the hang of it, it was a breeze. I love my Kitchenaid and all the wonderful things it can do!
I am impressed with the quality of the roller and cutters. My first attempt at making pasta using the recipe in the manual did not work out. The dough was extremely dry and would never form correctly. I used a recipe from the Food Network and it worked perfectly. When I first started trying to run the dough through the roller, it didn't want to feed very well. I found the trick was to make certain you had it rolled out thinly enough, when you fold the dough over run it from the folded ends, and keep a bit of tension on the dough as you are feeding it through. I made fettuccine the first time, and can't wait to try the spaghetti.
I'm extremely happy with the quality of the 3 attachments included. They obviously were made by skilled craftsmen in Italy, and they work perfectly. It was so much fun using this product. I felt like a little child with a new set of PlayDoh and cutters. It was more like playing than cooking.
