This attachment set, like all Kitchen Aid products, is made extremely well and is meant to last a lifetime. That being said, the cost is a bit expensive if you don't look at it as an investment. The roller and cutters are extremely easy to use and once you eat fresh, homemade pasta, any thought about the cost of the attachments goes right out the window. I made pasta 4 times in the first week I had it! the clean up is pretty easy - just keep the attachements well floured while making the pasta and it will be a breeze. I highly recommend this product, Do read the instructions several times before beginning. It will save you time in the end.

One to turn the roller and 2 hands to guide the fresh pasta out. I live alone and decided to enlist the help of my Kitchenaid. Once I got the hang of it, it was a breeze. I love my Kitchenaid and all the wonderful things it can do!

However; they are expensive and if you truly like homemade pasta (far superior than store bought), then worth the price. I found a pasta recipe on-line that uses equal amounts of semolina flour and white flour that makes perfect pasta. It took me about three batches to get it perfect and learn of the tricks for ease of use. Originally I had the grinder with pasta plates and it was an absolute disaster--shame on Kitchenaid for selling such an inferior, non-functioning product. The pasta rollers are excellent.

Yes | No Report Violation »I bought this for my husband, the pasta-maker in our family, to make it faster to whip up fresh pasta for our family. He LOVES it! It makes it easier for him to manipulate the dough (which was previously mixed up quickly in his KitchenAid stand mixer). It always took a lot of extra time to get our cramped workspace cleared and the hand-cranked pasta roller set up. Now all he has to do it put on the attachment and homemade pasta is ready within 30 minutes on any night of the week. We should have gotten this when we got the stand mixer. It is used often! It is a bit pricey, but worth every penny to have fresh pasta in very little time!

The polished stainless finish makes cleanup almost unnecessary with one exception. If the pasta strip pushes to either end of the rollers, dough can easily get stuck in the space between roller and side wall, and be very difficult to remove. Patience with a toothpick and brush has removed it so far. Not having to turn a handle while manipulating the dough makes the process a pleasure and not a chore.

The only problem we encountered was in using the fettuccini and spaghetti attachments. The pasta came out of the attachment just fine, but the cutting between each noodle was not deep enough because we had to spend so much time separating each noodle and finally got disgusted and threw them in the pot to boil them even though they were stuck together. Please tell me if this is normal. I heard you may have to separate them a little but not like we had to on every cut.

I think these types of things are fun, but I think they are way overpriced. The consumer pays for the product name (Kitchenaid in this case) and no necessarily for the value of the product.
Love the roller and the fettucine cutter but the spaghetti cutter kind of gummed up. I realize that I should have let the pasta dry a little longer and should have rolled it to a thinner size first. But I never use that one anyway; which makes it a more expensive product for me. However I love the speed, ease, and convenience compared to the hand crank models. I really enjoy it and make pasta more often.

9 of 12 users found this helpful. Was it helpful to you? Yes | No Report Violation »I have never before tried to make pasta but I've often thought it would be a good thing to do. I've seen the hand cranked units and that really seemed like way too much work. But working with the KitchenAid mixer and pasta roller attchment set made it easy.
The pasta roller set is made in Italy and appears to be sturdy and well made. I expect the units to last a long time. But, as usual, I think KitchenAid products are way over priced. If I had not gotten the set on sale with an additional mail in rebate I would not have spent that much money. It helped too that I was spending money I had gotten as a Christmast gift.
Excellent Quality, Heavy Construction

Now I have the Kitchen Aid Pasta Roller Attachment set and making pasta even faster and easier. Wish I had bought this set first. Nothing is better than homemade pasta.
I feel the set is way over priced but would buy again.
Works just as it should. It is at least 5 times faster than our hand operated model and the height allows for longer pieces. It is well worth the investment as fresh pasta is so much better than dried.

I used to shy away from making pasta because I grew up using the hand crank pasta maker, which took at least two of us to run it, and required a long time This automatic roller and cutter ran so smooth and quickly that I had no problems running the pasta though by myself. Even though I have only had this piece a short time, it looks like a very durable piece that will last a long time.
