J.A. Henckels has been manufacturing fine cutlery since 1731. Made in Solingen, Germany, its knives are forged, not stamped. Blade density is improved using the FRIODUR ice-hardening process, which provides a sharper initial edge for easier maintenance over time. Larger knives are crafted using Henckels' exclusive SIGMAFORGE® standard. Knives in the Four Star series are made of high-carbon stainless steel and precision-honed, with a laser-controlled edge, a balanced super-bolster, and a tang that extends to the back of the polypropylene handle, which is permanently bonded for seamless accuracy.

Good. The large knife needs sharpening, but is pretty balanced and easy to use.

We have a lot of 4 Star Henkel knives and love them. The price was so good on this I couldn't resist. Great deal and product.

The knives work great, but I was trying to match them to the knives in my butcher block. These handles are not the same. They are more of a plastic-type composite. But, my husband (who is the cook) says they are easier to use with this handle.

I have these knifes already and have used them for over 10 years and I still love them. This purchase was for a gift. The Mfg. has come out with a new design of the handle hence these are on sale. the new style handle has a metal base but other than that they are the same. One difference I did notice is that the rocker of the chefs knife is slightly more pronounced. These are a great product at a great price. I own over 15 of these knifes. Two suggestions: Knifes are a personal thing and should fit your had. Try holding it and using it make believe style. If your hand is too small you may not like it. The second suggestion is do not use an electric sharpener. The ones that you drag your knfe through work well and use a sharpening steel before use helps keep these sharp a long time!

Bed Bath and Beyond had the same set for the same price, less shipping, which therefore made it cheaper. Before I order from you again I will most certainly look around to see if I can find the product locally and for less money.
