Known for precise cutting, Wusthof continues their high-quality craftsmanship with the Wusthof 4.5-Inch Gourmet Utility Knife. This knif is constructed with laser technology and is extremely versatile. The small, 4.5-inch knife blade allows for the precise cuts necessary in mincing shallots, herbs and small vegetables. We find it especially handy for prepping apples for pies--the length is just right for both peeling and slicing, and the sharp tip scores pie dough beautifully.
Wusthof knives, fabricated with a high-carbon steel blades, keep their edge longer and require less maintenance than stainless blades. The full tang offers balance and durability. Triple rivets in the handle make it especially sturdy, and the synthetic handle material won't splinter or crack. It's also more hygienic than wood, as the non-porous material won't harbor germs. With proper care, this knife will remain resistant to rust and requires sharpening only once or twice a year (depending on use). This Wusthof utility knife allows both beginners and advanced chefs to slice, dice, cut and mince with ease.

I have a full set of Wustof and LOVE those, but this knife feels flimsy and not at all a quality product like my other Wustof knives. The strange thing is that this is part of the "better" grade of Wustof and not part of the plastic handle set. This is a bad knife, not at all pleased.
I've had this knife for years, and just bought it as a gift for a relative. It's one I reach for time and again; the size is perfect for multiple tasks and the feel in the hand makes it so easy to use. Weight, balance, edge. Just great.
This knife was purchased to complete my Wursthoff knife collection. I rapidly found that I was reaching for this most often for fast and quick use. I have small hands and find that the size is perfect.
I LOVE this knife! I got my first with my Emeril deluxe knife set and used it so much I ordered 2 more so I would always have one on hand. Lost one somewhere and so ordered this one so that I have 3. Retail from manufacture and other sources is $89.00 Cooking.com was only $15! This knife is called a 4" sandwich knife and cuts sandwiches great, but I use it to slice tomatoes, squash, small vegetables, and to cut meat in strips. Works great to skin a chicken breast. Quality is great and as per manufacturer recommend, I never put it in the dishwasher. By the way, my first knife handle separated, and I sent it to them and they replaced it. If I had dishwashed it, they would not have.
This is an awesome knife. I use it all the time. It is very sharp which I love even though I cut myself the first time I used it. I wash it by hand since I read that is recommended for knives, especially of this quality.
Previous to this purchase I owned 2 other types of this brand of knife and have found these to be the best knives I have ever owned. They keep a sharp edge far longer than any other brand I have used. This purchase included a 4.5 inch knife for each of my daughters.
I have always use Wusthof and I thought what a great deal, so I ordered the 4.5 and 3 inch utility knife, You get what you pay for. They are extremely light weight, All my other ones are heavier and that I what I am use to for balance. I should have realized that they were never that high to start and this was just a light weight item they they got a deal on., I went to a store and looked at a 4.5 knife and it was well balanced like the rest of my knives Thus they are fine, but if you use Wusthof, you will be disappointed.
