Yhis is so handy! It lets you use less butter on toast and bread and still get plenty of flavor.

Butter keeper

by Rebecca, TX
July 30, 2008

I really like it, but the shape is a little off and only fits back in the water receptacle if put in just the right way. That's frustrating!

Butter Keeper is a Keeper!

This is a great item. I enjoy serving compound butters when guests come to dinner and this was a wonderful way to serve and store the butter after the event. We changed the water every other day and the butter stayed great! AND it's dishwasher safe ... what's not to love?!

The butter keeper keeps my butter fresh and easy to spread. No more having to wait for butter to melt on toast if you forget to set it out 30 or so minutes before using. It is easy to clean.

Porcelain Butter Keeper

by Marilyn, IL
February 15, 2010

Loved the look and thought of being able to keep the butter from spoiling when not refrigated. Made my honey/butter after use followed instructions for the butter keeper. To my surprise the butter dropped out of the dish into the water.. that was disappointing. For the price it would cost more to return the item for a refund. I will use the item for my table knowing that the butter will probably down into the water. Oh well, the thought was nice but not practical.

I have priced these at lots of places and they run in the $30 range....yikes! But for the price, it is outstanding. Does the trick for freshness, nice white porcelain, great value!

I was disappointed that the directions were not more detailed. It said to put a stick of butter in the top and water in the bottom, but am not sure how much water should be used. I wrote the company for assistance, but recieved no response

This is a convenient product that works well. The water drips off it somewhat, but this is really just a minor quibble. I even bought one for my mom and she likes it, too!

For me, this product is not worth the effort involved. It may be useful for someone else.

The best butter keeper I've found in 5 years of searching! It's simple design fits any decor and it's lightweight enough for my arthritic hands to hold.

Word of caution

by Lon, AZ

Unfortunately, during the summer heat of the desert, it is important to remember to use air conditioning, or at least a swamp cooler, to help keep the butter semi-solid. I forgot! Other than that, what a dream - easily spread butter with butter consistency. I have 2, just in case I misjudge the quantity remaining in the first one.

Didn't work for me

by Steven, PA
August 26, 2007

I have owned the original Butter Bell in addition to this model. While this model is much more sturdy, I had difficulty determining the amount of water needed to make a seal for butter freshness without adding enough water to soak the butter. There are no instructions. Maybe the one I received was made slightly off-balance.
